Town Of Hoosick Board Meeting – Hoosick Roadways Cause Concern

October 15, 2010 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson
Ric Tinkham addressed the Hoosick Town Board at its regular monthly meeting held on Tuesday, October 12, instead of Monday because of the Columbus Day holiday. He said the intersection of Routes 7 and 22 is “extremely dangerous. It is absolutely the worst project I have ever seen.” When making a left turn from Route 22 onto 7 it is almost impossible to see traffic coming because of the high guardrails, he added. He suggested the Town Highway Supervisor send a letter to State DOT regarding the problem. He fears a local resident could have a bad accident in that spot.

Stephentown ZBA Takes Up Motocross Again

October 15, 2010 By eastwickpress

by David Flint
It took some prodding but the Stephentown Zoning Board eventually got on track to starting a new review of Howard Commander’s proposed Motocross Sports Park. The meeting on Thursday evening, October 7, got off to a late start because, with Board Secretary Deborah Angley’s resignation and no replacement found yet, no one present knew where to find the key to the light switch. Town Clerk Patty Gallup finally arrived and put the lights on.

At its regular meeting on Tuesday, October 12, the Village of Hoosick Falls Board approved a motion for the Mayor to sign the Dispatch Agreement with Rensselaer County. The Mayor noted that the Town of Hoosick contributed $5,500 toward the Village’s Dispatch operation this year. Next year it will contribute the same amount when the Village switches to the County service and pays an annual fee of $12,000. After next year, the Town will no longer contribute to the service as townspeople pay for the service through County taxes.

October 15, 2010 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson
It was to be the last home game of the season – Senior Night; bonfire, fun, etc.
Unfortunately it was not to be. Late Sunday night Lake George emailed the school and forfeited the game. That leaves Hoosick Falls undefeated for the season with a 7-0 record, counting the forfeit.

HFCS Students Proud To Show Off School

October 15, 2010 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson
On Thursday, October 7, there was an Open House at Hoosick Falls Central School. The turnout wasn’t large. Perhaps many parents had already visited the school through classroom open houses or perhaps many people have attended some of the varied school events having taken place in the recent past. Whatever, they missed a great opportunity to view the slide show in the auditorium of the work as it was being done and to hear the kids rave about their school. “Many of these students have been here throughout the renovations,” said Superintendent Ken Facin. “They have a keen perspective on what has been accomplished, and they are appreciative of the public’s support.”

Blue skies and vibrant foliage was the backdrop at John G. Boshart Field in Fonda-Fultonville on Saturday as the Braves came out of the locker room clearly ready to fight hard for a win against the Panthers during their homecoming game.  However, the lion-hearted Panther defense proved too much for the Braves, as the Panthers added another tally to the win column with a 21-6 victory.
