NYS Youth Snowmobile Safety Course Offered In Grafton

On Saturday, December 4, the Grafton Trail Blazers Snowmobile Club and the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation will host a snowmobile safety course for young people ages 10 to 18. Students must be at least 10 years old on the day of the course. Parents are encouraged to attend and participate. HACA Community Walk For Hunger Raises $5,000

About thirty people took time to walk over the weekend to benefit the HACA Food Closet. Many chose times other than the two o’clock Sunday afternoon time to walk for their money. Between the walkers and corporate contributors $2,500 was raised. That money was doubled through a matching grant.

Friday, June 23, 1854:  Some rainy. Our corn sheller being broken, Geo P. fetched us J.B. Maxon sheller and at night John F. carried it home and paid 25 cts for the use of it. Today John F. unwell and Thomas helped me shell corn. My wife unwell.
Saturday: John F. went with his youngest horse to Guy Moffitt’s to get information how to doctor his horse knee joint, and today I charged John Merrils for a hen 25 cts and 31 cts for half a bushel of potatoes.

Gallivan Withdraws Offer; Berlin Board To Consider Purchase Resolution

On Tuesday, October 5, Berlin Town Supervisor Rob Jaeger received a telephone call from Laurie Leckonby of the Kinderhook Group, a realty company in East Chatham representing Berlin Lumber, informing him that S.M. Gallivan of Brunswick had withdrawn its offer to purchase the Berlin Lumber property on Route 22 in Center Berlin. Since July of 2009 the Town of Berlin has debated, sometimes heatedly, whether to purchase the property for use as a municipal center and has held two referenda on the issue. Berlin CSD Names Interim Superintendent

The Berlin Board of Education has named Dr. Brian Howard as the new Interim Superintendent of the Berlin Central School District. Dr. Howard, an experienced educator, had been the Superintendent for the Queensbury Union Free School District for six years when he retired in 2008. Prior to that, he was Superintendent for the Liberty School District for five years, the Assistant Superintendent for Chatham CSD for one year and Chatham’s High School Principal for nine years before.  [Read more…] about Berlin CSD Names Interim Superintendent
