Locally Grown Film At The New Lebanon Library

The New Lebanon Library and the Lebanon Valley Business Association will present the award winning documentary film Locally Grown on Thursday, January 12, at 7 pm at the New Lebanon Library.
The film, which focuses on the New Lebanon farmers market, was made by students Isaak van der Meulen and Kelt Wilska. The student filmmakers are locally grown to the New Lebanon area themselves.

Hoosick Falls Thrift Store Open Two Extra Days In January

Local Girl Scouts will once again open the Thrift Store on the first Friday and Saturday of the month. The hours are Friday, January 6, from 4 to 7 pm and Saturday, January 7, from 9:30 am to noon. The shop is also open weekly on Thursdays from 10 am to 2 pm.

PVMCC Play Reading Series Is Back

PVMCC is offering a four week Play Reading Series for adults, led by Director Barb Smith. It is slated to run for consecutive Sunday afternoons from  2:30 to 4:30 pm, beginning Sunday, January 22. The tentative fee  for the series will be about $50, based on enrollment. Scripts will be provided and no  experience is necessary to participate.

Grafton Volunteer Fire Department Breakfast

The Grafton Volunteer Fire Department, along with the Grafton Ladies Auxiliary, will be holding an all you can eat buffet breakfast on Saturday, January 28, from 8 to 11 am at the Grafton VFW – Fire Hall on South Road (County Route 85). Belgian waffles, pancakes, French toast, eggs (made to order), sausage gravy and biscuits, bacon, sausage, home fries, toast, orange juice, coffee and milk are on the menu.
Cost is $8 per adult, $4 for kids 12 and free for kids under five. We look forward to serving you in 2012!

New Lebanon Book Group Meeting

The New Lebanon Book Group will discuss Behind the Scenes at the Museum, a novel by Kate Atkinson, on Sunday, January 8, at 11 am at the New Lebanon Library. Newcomers are welcome.
Behind the Scenes at the Museum is the first novel of Kate Atkinson. The book covers the experiences of Ruby Lennox, from a middle-class English family living in York. By interspersing flashbacks with the narrative of Ruby’s own life, the book chronicles the lives of four generations of women from Ruby’s great-grandmother Alice to Ruby’s mother’s failed dreams. It won the 1995 Whitbread Book of the Year and the 1996 Boeke Prize.
For further information on this free event, please call the Library at 518-794-8844. The Library is located at 550 State Route 20, ¼ mile north of the yellow blinking light at the intersection of Routes 20/22.

Cambridge Area Branch Of The Woman’s NF & G Inducts Officers

The Cambridge Area Branch of the Woman’s National Farm and Garden met on Thursday, December 8, at Mama’s (formerly Albie’s) Restaurant for their traditional Christmas party luncheon. Stephentown Texas Hold’em

The Veterans of Stephentown will hold a Texas Hold’em Tournament on Saturday, January 14, in the Stephentown Fire Hall, located at 37 Grange Hall Road in Stephentown. The doors will open at 5 pm and close at 6 pm. Play begins at 6:15 sharp.
A free buffet will be served at the first break, and refreshments will be available.

Hoosick Falls Health Center Annual Meeting

The Annual Meeting of the Hoosick Falls Health Center, Inc., for the purpose of electing a Board of Directors and to transact any other business as may properly come before it, will be held on Wednesday, January 18, at 7:30 am at the Health Center, 21 Danforth Street, Hoosick Falls.
Any person who has contributed to the Health Center in the previous year is entitled to be present and to vote.
The Hoosick Falls Health Center provides care to anyone who can benefit from its services regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, blindness, sexual orientation, handicap or source of payment.
