Timothy Mulholland, a down to earth aging country boy from north central Pennsylvania, was at the Stephentown Heritage Center Monday evening to tell of his experience in the Civil War, “some 20 years ago.” Tim joined the Pennsylvania “Bucktails” regiment right after the rebels fired on Fort Sumter and stayed on right through to Appomattox Court House. BCS Still At An Impasse In Third Vote On Bond Financing

For the third week in a row the Berlin Central School Board meeting opened with a vote on the authorization of a $5.1 million bond for the Capital Project.
Once again School Superintendent Dr. Stephen Young reminded the Board that this project is “for the benefit of the student.” The buildings, especially the elementary school, are in need of urgent repairs to bring them up to State mandated standards. “It is the students who will suffer further without these repairs,” added Young.

HFCS Nears Final Budget With Tax Levy Increase At 2%

The Hoosick Falls School District’s budget for next year is getting near its final form now that the State Budget has been passed. The District learned this week that it will get $133,000 more in State aid than had been expected before, bringing the total increase in State aid for operating expenses to just under $350,000, which is an increase of almost 4.5% over the current year.

Hoosick Falls Police Seek Tips On Alleged Home Invader

On Sunday, April 1, the Hoosick Falls Police Department completed its investigation of a reported Home Invasion that occurred on Saturday morning March 24, 2012.
The initial report was that three females had broken into a home on Elm Street in the Village of Hoosick Falls where they assaulted a 26 year old female.

Grafton Historical Society Premiers Dadetown

The Grafton Historical Society’s April meeting will be held at the Grafton Senior Center on April 18  at 7 pm.  Come join us for the Grafton “premier” of the movie Dadetown. Dadetown is a mock-documentary. Dadetown is the directorial debut of Russ Hexter and features Grafton native Gordon Gunny Gundrum as the sheriff of Dadetown.
