The Chris Gibson for Congress campaign will come to eastern Rensselaer County with the 20th Congressional District candidate hosting a Town Hall-style event in Grafton.
The Gibson In Your Corner event will be held at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall on South Road, just off Route 2 in Grafton at 7 pm on Monday, August 16. Residents are encouraged to attend to hear Gibson discuss issues facing the nation and the 20th Congressional District.

Grafton Lakes State Park 25th Annual Run For The Roses

Runners from the local and Capital District areas, Massachusetts, Vermont, Virginia and New Jersey participated in the 25th Annual Run for the Roses at Grafton Lakes State Park on Sunday, August 8. The event benefits the Grafton Community Library. Activities started at 8 am with a Nature Walk around Shaver Pond to benefit the Courtney Carelli Literacy Foundation, followed by the Run. The Official Municipal Seals Of New York

The official seals of the Towns of Hoosick, Stephentown, Petersburgh and Grafton, among others, could be seen in one of the displays presented by Marvin Bubie in his illustrated talk to the Stephentown Historical Society on Monday. Americans, according to Bubie, having thrown out the King also largely abandoned the ancient tradition of regal and noble heraldry on state seals. Seals of American states, counties, cities and towns often depict historic events and many are just scenic. Some have retained heraldic imagery such as Stephentown’s use of the Van Rensselaer coat of arms borrowed by permission from the family.

Hip Hop At The Grafton Library
The Grafton Community Library will be sponsoring a learn to dance Hip Hop program for teens and tweens on Tuesday, August 9 and 16. Two times will be offered: dancing for ages 8 – 11 will be at 7 pm and dancing for ages 12 and up will begin at 8 pm. The program will be taught by 15 year-old Phoenix Lim-Bassallo, a summer resident of Grafton, (also known as B-Girl NIX), who is both a hip hop artist and break dancer.
