Laura Dooley from Cropseyville has been placed on the Dean’s Honor List for the Spring 2010 Semester at Sage College of Albany. Dean’s Honor List students obtain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 after completing a course load of 12 credit hours or more, and receiving no letter grade below a C.

Grafton Planning Board Action – Lipinski Reneges

Frustration was the name of the game at the July Grafton Planning Board Meeting. The Stonybrook project and project director David Lipinski were the main source of discussion. Lipinski sent the Planning Board a change work order regarding the $2,500 owed to the Highway Department and the $30,000 owed to the Fire Department for a piece of equipment he promised them. Because of “financial difficulties” Lipinski requested that the date of the money owed be moved from June 30 to September 1, 2010.

Buckley Is A Grafton Resident

In our story on the Grafton Town Board last week we passed along misinformation regarding the residency of David Buckley, who intends to run for Grafton Supervisor. According to a letter from Buckley’s lawyer, he purchased property at 41 Benker School Way in Grafton on April 20, 2010. The deed was recorded in the County Clerk’s office on April 27. We apologize for passing along this misinformation.

Now you can find out, courtesy of the Bar None Ranch in Berlin. They raise pastured chicken and lamb, without antibiotics and growth hormones. Their chickens are fed grass and locally grown grain. They are coming to the Brunswick Community Library, on Route 2, on Saturday, July 31, at 11 am for a special Chicken Storytime.

Grafton Lakes State Park Swing Concert
Grafton Lakes State Park continues its third annual Music in the Park Concert Series on Sunday, August 1, with a big band concert provided by All Them Chops. The show is free to the public and will run from 5:30 to 7:30 pm by the beach.

Harold O. Babcock
Grafton – Harold O. Babcock, 74, of Route 2, Grafton, NY, died peacefully at his home on Friday, July 16, 2010, surrounded by his loving family under the care of Community Hospice of Rensselaer County.
Born in Petersburgh, NY, on February 13, 1936, he was the son of the late H. Raymond Babcock and Mary Grogan Babcock Stasik.
