Grafton Lakes State Park
September 7 –  Monday, Labor Day, Sand Sculpture Contest.  Registration at 12 pm at Beach Nature Center.  Judging from 1:30 to 3 pm.  Prizes for all participants.  Come be an artist in the sand on the “last day of summer!”

Grafton Lakes State Park Invites Artists To The Park

Grafton Lakes State Park invites artists to portray the Park’s fall scenery on Sundays from September 20 through October 11 (Columbus Day weekend).  Registered participants in the Art in the Park program will receive free Sunday admission to the park to paint, draw or photograph in exchange for submitting a piece to the Silent Art Auction at the Winter Festival on January 23, 2010.

Na Mu Myo Ho Ren Ge Kyo

An International Day of Peace Walk from New York City to the Grafton Peace Pagoda will take place September 11-22. We will walk a total of 180 miles, typically walking 12-15 miles per day.  Feel free to join the walk at any point for any length of time.  Please respect that the walk will be free of drugs, alcohol and weapons. If you plan to join us for more than a day, please bring a sleeping bag. Everyone is invited for all or just part of the walk.

Grafton Library Helps Grafton Youth Get Creative

On August 10 Joy Schillinger visited the Town of Grafton Summer Youth Program at Grafton Elementary to present a Wax Resist Watercolor Painting program sponsored by the Grafton Community Library to help the youngsters get creative, the theme for this year’s New York State Summer Reading Program.

Need Help To Quit Smoking?

The Center for Smoking Cessation at Seton Health offers a six week program to assist those who want to quit smoking. Gym Equipment Donation

Rensselaer County’s Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Road, Grafton, would like to thank the community for it’s response to our request for gym equipment for our Senior Center.  We have received some great equipment – a treadmill, hand weights, abs-doer, a power rider and a few other pieces of equipment. We now have a great exercise room set up for our seniors.  Thank you to everyone who donated.   If you are a Rensselaer County senior 60 years of age or older come check out our gym.

Grafton Town Board Action – August 2009

The Grafton Town Board meeting started off with the report from Highway Superintendent Sandy Hasbrouck and the only thing to report was the vandalism of the Mountain Chapel sign on Route 22 and other signs and  other items that have indeed been “tagged.” The vandalism is now in the hands of the law and will now be taken care of by the District Attorney’s Office.
