Registration is still open for the HAYC3 Basketball Program. This fun, recreational program, geared towards improving skills and teamwork through weekly practices and league games, is open to youth from kindergarten through eighth grade.
The program starts on Saturday, December 1, with co-ed kindergartners through second-graders from 8 to 9 am.
Third through fourth-graders are scheduled from 9 to 10:30 am. Fifth and sixth-graders will start at 10:30 am and end at noon.

Nancy A. McCabe
Hoosick Falls – Nancy A. McCabe, 77, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT. She had resided on Elm Street in Hoosick Falls, NY, and was the wife of the late Loren E. McCabe, who died in 1993.
Born on March 7, 1935, in Hoosick Falls, Nancy was the daughter of the late Edwin and Florence (Callahan) Webster. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1952. Nancy was formerly employed at Isola Industries in Hoosick Falls, Hemmings Motor News in Bennington and, currently, at HAYC3 in Hoosick Falls. She enjoyed annual vacations to York Beach with her family.

Kenneth A. Burns Sr.
Hoosick Falls – Kenneth A. Burns Sr., 93, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2012, at the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Hoosick Falls, NY. He was the husband of the late Marjorie Burns.
Born on May 16, 1919, in Troy, NY, Kenneth was the son of the late Timothy and Genieve (Estabrook) Burns. He was educated at Walter A. Wood High School in Hoosick Falls and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Philippines. Kenneth worked at the Gold Meadow Creamery in Buskirk, NY, the family farm and was a custodian at Hoosick Falls Central School until retiring. Kenneth enjoyed going to the Sunday breakfasts at the local firehouses.

Hoosick Falls – Joseph A. Brandi, 96, of LaGrange, KY, formerly of Salisbury, NC, passed away in LaGrange on Tuesday, November 20, 2012.
Mr. Brandi was a Catholic, a decorated Army WW II veteran who was awarded a purple heart and a retired rubber and plastics industry technical advisor and plant manager.

Town Of Hoosick Opposed To Keeping Police Force If Village Dissolves

At the Town of Hoosick Board meeting on Thursday, November 15, Hoosick Falls Mayor Matt Monahan asked the Board members for their opinion of a Town Wide Police Force. He said it was nothing formal and he was not there to lobby the Board one way or another.
He brought up the issue because for several months the Village has had a Dissolution Study underway. The Committee has met on several occasions, and two public hearings have been held. Hoosick Falls Boy Scouts Hike Up Mount Greylock

Boy Scout Troop 65 from Hoosick Falls hiked to the 3,491 foot summit of Mt. Greylock located in North Adams, MA, on October 21. The ten mile round trip hike took approximately five and a half hours, and the scouts enjoyed lunch, hot cocoa and extraordinary views at the summit. Service Of Thanksgiving And Praise

Dottie Cross, Organist and Choir Director of the Christ United Methodist Church in Johnsonville and the West Hoosick Baptist Church combined those choirs with guest singers from ten additional churches to present an outstanding musical program with almost 50 voices on Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon, November 17 and 18. On Saturday the Welcome Blend was a part of the program, and on Sunday Harmony of Faith performed.

Village of Hoosick Falls Gives Funds To Country Club And HAYC3

The Board of the Village of Hoosick Falls met on Tuesday, November 13. All members were present, including John Hickey who has been recovering from illness. At the meeting Mayor Matt Monahan said he had approached the Hoosick Falls Country Club about applying for a grant through the Village’s Economic Development Fund.
