Forty-Five New Names Added To The Veterans Wall

The Hoosick Falls Veterans Wall Committee is happy to announce that 45 new veterans names have been added to the wall. The new names were collected by Phil Leonard and the Historical Society. A plaque containing the names of the major contributors has been added to the sitting wheel in front of the wall.

HooRWA Turkey Trot
On Saturday, November 24, at 10 am there will be a Turkey Trot, or Take-a-Walk, on the Hoosic River Greenway in Hoosick Falls for young, for old, for families, for everyone! Walk off that Thanksgiving dinner and explore the Hoosic River Greenway, including its newly resurfaced southern section, and the nearby Hoosic River. Meet at the old Water Works off Carey Avenue in Hoosick Falls at 10 am. Really wet weather will cancel the event. This event is sponsored by the Hoosic River Watershed Association and the Village of Hoosick Falls.

Eight Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad members attended the 29th Vital Signs conference held in Syracuse, October 18-21. Members were President/Training Officer Bill Gaillard, Vice President/Assistant Training Officer Deborah Lohnes, Treasurer Susan Eddy, Captain Rita Kittel, Accountant Roseann Miller, Weapons of Mass Destruction Expert Ronald Sampath, Nathaniel Moseley and Pamela Mayhew.

Festival Of Wreaths A Success

Friends of the Cheney Library were dressed in their holiday best for what they hope will be their first annual “Love Your Library Festival of Wreaths” Saturday evening, November 3. The Immaculate Conception Church hall was decorated with white holiday lights, adding a festive air to the event. The 130 people who attended enjoyed delicious sweets, beautiful violin music and had plenty of time to browse past the 40 wreaths to be auctioned.

Fall-In On A Fall Day

The Fall-In @ the Armory day, sponsored by HAYC3, was touted as “a community gathering and celebration of the season.” Fortunately, the weather was very pleasant on Saturday, October 27. There was fun outside and inside the Armory. The Hoosick Community Band played. There was cider making and marshmallow toasting, floating luminaries late in the day and a delicious Sweet and Eat dessert bake off. [Read more…] about Fall-In On A Fall Day
