The Hoosick Falls Memorial Day Parade had it all. There were the American Legion, politicians, flags galore, great bands, sharp looking fire companies, plenty of fire trucks, floats, fancy and antique cars, candy for the kids, boy scouts, girl scouts, 4-H’ers, dancers and horses The HFCS baseball team rode in a fancy carriage. The team is playing for the Section Championship on Thursday. Best of all, it was a nice long parade.

Suspect In Area Burglaries Is Arrested

After a month long burglary investigation, Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Investigators arrested Keith E. Gates, 25, of Church Street, Hoosick Falls. Gates is charged with Burglary Second Degree and Grand Larceny Fourth Degree, both are felonies. The arrest is in connection with a residential burglary that occurred on Tory Hill Road in Pittstown in April. Reportedly, jewelry valued at $1,800 was taken. It has not been recovered to date.

Hoosick Falls Police Blotter May 18 to May 25, 2012
Friday, May 18 – The Hoosick Falls Police Department, with the assistance of the Rensselaer County Drug Task Force, completed a two month undercover investigation that resulted in the arrest of Jason Shaw, age 28, of 25 Willow Street, Hoosick Falls. Shaw was arrested on May 18 on a sealed indictment warrant charging him with two counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree. The investigation is continuing.

Hoosick Falls Junior/Senior High School will be holding its annual Senior Awards Night for the graduating seniors on Thursday, June 21, at 7 pm in the Jr./Sr. High School Auditorium. Deadline For Walter A. Wood Alumni Reunion Is June 1
The Walter A. Wood Alumni Reunion will be held on Saturday, June 9, at the Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Corps Building. Dinner will be served at 12:30 pm. Special classes to be recognized are the graduating classes of 1962, 1952, 1941 and prior years. Anyone who graduated 50 years ago or earlier and did not receive a letter and is interested in attending, please contact Mrs. Janice Tate at 518-686-7036. Reservations close on June 1.
St. Mary’s Academy Funtastic Fair
St. Mary’s Academy has set the date! This year’s Funtastic Fair is scheduled for Friday, June 8, and Saturday, June 9, from 5 to 10 pm. We’ve added more amusement rides this year, along with two nights of fun. Friday night there will be a Dodge Ball tournament in the St. Mary’s gymnasium and Saturday night there will be Indoor Laser Tag by Grin Mobile.

The Hoosick Falls Thrift Store has a large collection of clothes for all seasons, all ages and all shapes and sizes – men, women, and children. And all are priced extremely reasonably. Prices range from $.25 (children’s clothing) to $1 for men’s and women’s tops, pants and skirts and $3 for adult jackets and suits. Or, shoppers can fill a provided shopping bag for $3. Friends of the Cheney Library invite the public to Dine Out to Help Out. The event will be held at the Falls Diner, 22 River Road, Hoosick Falls, on Monday, June 11, from 5 to 8 pm. The Falls Dinner has generously offered a portion of the night’s proceeds to expand the programs and services offered by Cheney Library to the community of Hoosick Falls. There will be a 50/50 Raffle and Book Basket Raffles. So please join us for a special night of food and fun at the Falls Diner.
