To the Editor:
The Councilman’s [Patire] opinions may not be based on facts. Is anybody really buying Bruce Patire’s story that he is acting in the best interest of the taxpayers? It seems Mr. Patire left something out of his letter to the Editor. (The letter appeared in area newspapers earlier this week.) He mentioned that he attended a [Town] Board meeting but failed to mention that he (after he was elected to the Board) explained why he thought the best option for the Town was to have the Town purchase the Patire used car dealership on Main Street in Hoosick Falls.

The Hoosick Falls Soccer Club is proud to announce the Memorial Garden, Buy A Brick Program! The Hoosick Falls Soccer Club is in the process of gathering ideas for a “Yellow Brick Road” that will be placed by the Hos-Cot Pavilion on South Street in Hoosick and lead to the flagpole and the Decatur Memorial Bench near the Delurey Championship Field. Never in the 21 years of the Hoosick Falls St. Patrick’s Day Parade has there been such a glorious day as this past Saturday, March 17. The sky was bright blue; the sun was warm, and the temperature hovered near 70 degrees. It was a far cry from years past when minuscule crowds stood freezing on snow covered streets. Hoosick Falls Man Allegedly Peeped

Thomas McMartin of Hoosick Falls was charged last week in Troy Court with Burglary in the third degree and Unlawful Surveillance, both felonies. He pled not guilty and was later released on $5,000 bail. Rensselaer County District Attorney Rich McNally said, if convicted, McMartin could spend time in State prison. The DA had no further comment on the case as it is an ongoing investigation.

Light Voting In Village Election

To say voter turnout for the Tuesday uncontested election of three Hoosick Falls Village trustees was light is an understatement. It was more like family and friends showing support for those they hold dear. Robert Downing has served on the Board for many years. David Borge and Jeremy Driscoll were both appointed to their seats. This was their first time seeking election to the Board. Undoubtedly the fact that the three were unopposed had a great deal to do with the low voter turnout. The result was a forgone conclusion.

Hoosick Falls Police Blotter – March 12 to March 18, 2012
Last week two juveniles fell off a fire escape, when it collapsed, on Main Street. Both suffered injuries due to the fall. They were arrested for trespassing and criminal mischief and turned over to family court.

The family of Charles Hamill of Grafton entered the well of the Rensselaer County Legislature on Tuesday night to receive copies of the resolution passed last month that memorialized him. Charles J. “Charlie” Hamill died on January 23, 2012.
