The Capital District’s premier all female Celtic band, Triskele, will be preforming on Saturday, March 17, at the Hoosick Falls Irish festival from 2 to 4 pm. They released their debut CD, Look Back, Don’t Stare in 2011 to resounding acclaim. They are excited to bring a refreshing sound, driven by their solid harmonies to lovers of Irish music.

Village of Hoosick Falls Board Meeting – Water Could Be Shut Off If Bills Are Not Paid

The regular monthly meeting of the Hoosick Falls Village Board was held on Tuesday, March 13. Mayor Matt Monahan requested and received approval from the Board to send water and sewer collection notices to Town residents who use Village water and, in some cases, sewer, and are in arrears. Sunday, March 4 – Domestic Dispute investigation on River Street. Arrested for striking the victim was Jay Valentino, age 61, of 45 River Street. He was arrested for Menacing 3rd and Harassment 2nd. He was arraigned and bail was set at $1,000. The victim was treated at the scene.
Investigation of suspicious vehicle on Fourth Street. Investigation revealed that the vehicle was broken down.

HAYC3 will be hosting a Community Conversation on Thursday, March 22, at 6:30 pm at HAYC3. This community conversation will consist of an eclectic panel of individuals who have helped youth in different stages of their transition into adulthood, a transition which is challenging for both kids and their parents. 55 Alive Defensive Driving Program In Hoosick Falls
There will be a 55 Alive Defensive Driving Program offered by the Hoosick Area Senior Center on April 18 from 9 am to 3 pm. The cost is $17 for AARP members and $19 for non-members. There is limited seating so sign up in advance by calling 686-7524.
SMA Basketball Tournament
St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls will be holding a basketball tournament this weekend for fifth and sixth and seventh and eighth grade teams, both boys and girls. The teams consist of Hoosick Falls, Bennington, Cambridge and Hoosic Valley players. The games will be held Friday, March 16, from 4 to 7 pm, Saturday from 8 am to 7 pm and Sunday, March 18, from 10 am to 6 pm.

Hoosick Falls – Miss Florence “Flo” Evelyn Bell, 92, of Hoosick Street, Hoosick Falls, NY, died peacefully on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at her residence.
Born in Pittsfield, MA, on June 4, 1919, Flo was the daughter of the late William and Mildred Crandall Bell. A resident of the Hoosick area since she was approximately seven years old, she graduated from Walter A. Wood High School (Hoosick Falls) in 1936. [Read more…] about Florence E. Bell
HAYC3 To Investigate Armory Take-Over

At the start of a special Town of Hoosick Board meeting on February 29 Supervisor Keith Cipperly announced that the Hoosick Area Youth Center And Community Coalition (HAYC3) was willing to take over the Armory.
This week HAYC3 Executive Director Aelish Nealon said HAYC3 hasn’t met as a Board yet, but she believes there is interest in the building. “HAYC3 is a community driven organization,” she said. “It makes sense to ask us to investigate the idea, and we are happy to do so.” The full Board will meet on March 26. “We will take our time and do due diligence,” she added.
