Junior Girl Scout Troop 1104 News
Hoosick Falls Junior Girl Scout Troop 1104 is gearing up for another fun filled year of troop and community events. Fifteen third grade girls from the area are registered this year. Last year the troop participated in the annual food drive, caroling at The Danforth Center and the Hoosick Falls Health Center, sledding in Wood Park, swimming at the Town pool, pizza parties, strawberry shortcake sales at the Community Band concerts and much, much more.

Cheney Library Storytime
Storytime for preschool children and their caregivers will begin at 10 am on Tuesday, September 28, in the Cheney Library, Hoosick Falls. We will be sharing classic stories of childhood from Mother Goose. There will be finger plays, crafts and snacks. This is a great time for children ages 2-4 years to get together and have fun learning. Please call 686-9401, if you have any questions.
AARP Defensive Driving Course
The Hoosick Area Senior Center will be holding an AARP Safe Driving Course, on Thursday, October 14, from 9 am to 3 pm. The cost will be $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. Please call the Center at 686-7561 to sign up. Spaces are limited!

Barr Family Dedicates SVMC Women’s Imaging Center Waiting Room
Patricia Barr, local and national breast cancer advocate, who died of breast cancer in 2003, was honored at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) in the Women’s Imaging Center. Barr’s family, including her mother Marie Barr, husband, Rolf Sternberg, and children Shira and Tava Sternberg, dedicated the Women’s Imaging Center waiting room in loving memory of Patricia with a plaque.

Village of Hoosick Falls Board Meeting – Financing Water

At the Hoosick Falls Village Board meeting on Tuesday, September 14, the Board discussed how to pay off the interest free loan for the new Water system. Mayor Monahan said they had several options including splitting payments evenly over 30 years or starting with smaller payments and increasing them as the years go by. Trustee Paul Haynes suggested the Village pay $260,000 a year, flat rate for 20 years. By that time the sewer interest free loan will be paid off and the Village will better be able to pay off the water loan at $340,000 a year for 10 years. The Board endorsed this plan, pending approval by the loan agency.

The New Year Opens At St. Mary’s Academy
The First Irish Open Crazy Pin Golf Scramble
The Hoosick Falls Country Club will play host on Saturday, October 2, to the First Annual Irish Open Crazy Pin Golf Scramble with a shotgun start at 10 am. The entry fee is $50.
Come join the fun with the crazy pin locations, prizes and food. The event is a benefit for the Hoosick Falls St. Patrick’s Parade and Irish Festival.

The Annual Republican Golf Tournament
The Town of Hoosick Republican Party will host its annual golf tournament on Sunday, September 26, at the Hoosick Falls Country Club with an 8:30 am shotgun start. The tournament will be a four man scramble format with 18 holes. Lunch will be served and several prizes will be awarded. You can win $20,000 with a hole-in-one.
