The Walter A. Wood High School Alumni Association will hold its annual dinner on Saturday, June 12, at the Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Corps building on Parker Road, Pittstown off Route 7. HFCC Friday Night Scramble
The first Friday Night Nine Hole Scramble at the Hoosick Falls CC was won by the team of Kevin Gorman, Steve Carknard, Sr., Sheri Spangenberg and Patsy Pitt with a three under par score of 31. Celia McEvoy, Dennis McEvoy, Val and Greg Bulson finished second with a two under par total score of 32. Peter Martin won closest to the pin on hole number six. Over thirty players participated in the first of a series of the schedule Friday Night Scrambles. The next evening Scramble will be on Friday, June 4. Deadline for signing up is Thursday, June 3, at the close of business. These events are open to members and non-members. Interested golfers can contact the Pro Shop for details.
Hoosick Falls CC 100th Anniversary
On Sunday, June 6, the Hoosick Falls Country Club will celebrate its 100th Anniversary from 2 to 4 pm. The public is cordially invited to this event. There will be refreshments and music by The Brewsters. Presentations will be made at 2:30 pm.
HFCS PTA Book Fair
The Hoosick Falls Central School PTA will host a Scholastic Book Fair and ice cream social on June 2 from 6 to 8 pm in the elementary school cafeteria. The annual event is intended to increase literacy among students and raise funds to purchase books for the elementary school library. Families, teachers and the community are invited to attend the Book Fair, featuring a fun theme – Book Fair Diner: All You Can Read!

Shots Fired In May 9 Car Chase In Hoosick Falls

At 4:15 am, May 9, a Hoosick Falls Police officer attempted to pull over a vehicle driven by Bryan E. Purcell, age 36, of 60 Tory Hill Road. According to Police Chief Robert Ashe, Purcell refused to stop and the officer pursued the vehicle up Cummings St. At some point Purcell drove the car off the road, traveling across lots. Infant Death In Hoosick Falls Investigated As Homicide

Ina McElheny, the four month old daughter of Melinda Anders and Joseph McElheny of 3 River St. was rushed by ambulance to Bennington Hospital on Thursday, May 13. Support Needed For Veterans Memorial Wall
The Hoosick Falls Veterans Memorial Wall Committee announced recently that the second phase to raise funds for completion of the Veterans Memorial Wall in Wood Park is now underway.
The projected cost for the Wall is $45,000. The first phase of the project has been completed at a cost of $10,000 which was funded by donations and in-kind services. Efforts are now underway to raise the remaining $35,000 which will cover the cost of six bronze plaques listing the names of all Hoosick area Veterans, installation and landscaping.
