Hoosick Grange had a great fun night on August 8. We started out with a covered dish supper with hot dogs and corn on the cob and finished it off with Marion Cipperly chocolate cake with boiled frosting. Delicious! Then it was game time. We played Bingo with lots of prizes until we finished filling the card for fun. Then we had a balloon bust race, ring toss, peanut game and spoon tennis ball contest. The men and women playing did a terrific job, both winning games. We sang some rounds and had some jokes. The Lecturer thanked them for being such good sports.
Our next meeting is on August 22 and is election of officers. The refreshment Committee is C.F.A.

The Magic Flute Is First-Rate Opera
review by Alex Brooks
Hubbard Hall has opened a production of The Magic Flute, Mozart’s last opera.
This is an amazingly ambitious and successful production, with a 19 piece live orchestra and a cast of 28. It’s full of laughs and great music and a wacky plot which is entertaining if confusing, and also often stirring. Somehow the whole package works, and it drew an extended standing ovation on opening night.

Pink Fashion Rocks
by Bea Peterson
Like all the nearby communities, Hoosick and Hoosick Falls residents and businesses are extremely generous. Almost every week or every other week there is one fund raiser or another. And people respond! Most fund raisers are annual events run by the same folks year after year. Pink Fashion Rocks had a different twist. It was run completely by young folks in their late teens and early twenties. They are to be congratulated. They should be congratulated first for continuing the strong community ethic of giving back and secondly for pulling off a successful event.
