Manuel Custodio

Buskirk – Manuel Custodio, 77, passed away on July 31, 2012, at the Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY. He had resided on Youngs Road in Buskirk, NY, with his wife of fifty-two years, Isabel Maria Duartae Custodio.
Born on July 25, 1935, in Sao Miguel Azores, Portugal, Manuel was the son of the late Joao da Ponte and Isabel de Jesus (Cordeiro) Custodio.  Manuel moved to the United States thirty-four years ago to make a better way of life for his family, which he accomplished.  He was very proud of his children’s accomplishments.

The North Hoosick Fire Department Celebrates 65 Years

About 150 people attended the 65th Anniversary Banquet of the North Hoosick Fire Department on Saturday, July 21. Chief Alan Bornt told the gathering that the banquet was dedicated to all the Department firefighters and Ladies Auxiliary members for their hard work and dedication to the communities of North Hoosick, East Hoosick and Walloomsac. Hoosick Falls Grand Union Among Stores Tops Friendly Markets Plans To Acquire

According to a press release from Tops Friendly Markets and comments from Tops spokesperson Katie McKenna, the Hoosick Falls Grand Union is one of 21 stores Tops is planning to acquire. “I see no changes in the names or the products carried in the Hoosick Falls store or any of the others in the foreseeable future,” she said. “Most of the changes will be behind the scenes, such as operational support.”

Reynolds Foundation Awards $12,600

Second Annual Hoosick Hometown Days

The schedule has been set for this year’s Second Annual Hoosick Hometown Days. Stop down for a fun filled family weekend at the Hoosick Falls Athletic Fields. From noon until 10 pm on August 3 and 4, this community event will feature something for everyone.
The grounds will be filled with vendors, concessions by local non-profit organizations, local musical talent and a dunking booth.  Amyland Amusements will be setting up some of their best rides and carnival games for the weekend. Wrist bands for rides will be available for $25. St. Mary’s Academy will be providing all of your favorite carnival foods throughout the weekend.

Fashion Show Fundraiser – Pink Fashion Rocks!

Hoosick – Rose E. Philpott, 92, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2012, at the Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation in Hoosick Falls, NY. She was the wife of Ralph Philpott. They were married on October 22, 1944, and resided on Breese Hollow Road in Hoosick, NY.
