Dollar General To Replace ERC Warehouse

Engineer Lawrence Marshall of Mercurio Horton Tarolli of Pine Bush, NY, addressed the Town of Hoosick Planning Board on Monday evening, July 16. He gave the Board detailed written materials and drawings for a Dollar General Store to be located on the 1.78 acre site of the ERC Warehouse on Route 22. ERC Move Pending

According to ERC Community Warehouse President Matthew Curley everything is still very much up in the air regarding a move from Hoosick Falls. So far no closing date has been set for Primax Properties to purchase the land and buildings for Dollar General. “Once we have a closing date, I will have more information,” he said. Tentatively, the plan is to move to property in Melrose, but that hinges on the closing.

Hoosick Grange News – Dairy Princess Night
It was Dairy Princess night at Hoosick Grange on July 11. David Schmidt introduced Courtney Luskin, the new Rensselaer County Dairy Princess. She and her Dairy Princess Ambassador, Caroline Cipperly, made a milk punch that was just delicious. They also had a variety of cheese and crackers. Rape Arrest In Hoosick
Deputies from the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office arrested Edouard Jeremy Brutus, age 23, from Manhattan for Rape in the 1st Degree on July 8. Deputies responded to a phone call received at 4:40 am.
Brutus was brought before the Honorable Judge Richard Whalen in the Town court of Hoosick.
On July 10, 2012 Brutus was released from the Rensselaer County Jail on $30,000 bail. Yvonne Keefe of the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office stated that are no further details at this time.
SMA Class Of 1952 Reunion
The St. Mary’s Academy Class of 1952 is planning a 60th Reunion with a gathering at Guiseppes Restaurant on Route 7 in Hoosick on Saturday, July 28. The celebration will begin with attendance at 4 pm Mass at the Immaculate Conception Church followed by a gathering at Guiseppes at 5:30.

Hoosick Falls Youth Football And Cheerleading Sign Up
Football registration sign-up will be this Saturday, July 21, at the entrance to the Town skating rink from 9 am to noon. If you sign up and pay, you will be able to pick up your equipment as well!

Calling All Vendors For Hoosick Hometown Days
Hoosick Home Town Days is looking for all fine arts, crafters and vendors to participate in this year’s Second Annual Craft Fair and Carnival to be held, Friday, August 3, and Saturday, August 4, from noon to 10 pm. This event will be held on the Town of Hoosick Athletic Fields on Barton Avenue. Some other activities in the works for this weekend that will be spread out on the over 5 acres of property are fireworks on Saturday night, a car show, a Texas Hold’em tournament, a Chicken BBQ and music throughout the weekend provided by local musicians. North Hoosick Fire Dept. Chicken BBQ Is Friday
The North Hoosick Fire Department will sponsor a chicken barbecue on Friday, July 20. Serving time will be at 5 pm. The event is a part of the Fire Department’s 65th anniversary celebration. Tickets are limited so you are asked to get them early. It is unknown if any will be available at the door.
