Hoosick Town Board Action – Hoosick Financial Audit

Much Ado About Nothing?
A Channel 13 TV news report that aired just before the Town of Hoosick regular Board meeting on Monday evening, May 14, stated that the Town “is accused of wasting hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxpayer money. The State Comptroller says the Town overspent its general and highway funds by nearly $630,000 between 2009 and 2010. An audit also found the Town has not taken proper measures to store and back up its data.” That was all the news report stated, adding no explanation whatsoever.

Hoosick Makes The Airwaves

Hoosick and Hoosick Falls made the airwaves last Friday, May 11, when WGNA’s Sean and Richie Show broadcast live from the Falls Diner. Hoosick Grange News

Hoosick Grange met on May 9. We had the program first. The Lecturer introduced Doreen Forney. Doreen has traveled all over the world. She showed pictures of the Baffin Island and Greenland. Honoring Veterans At The Schaghticoke Fair

To benefit the Veterans Hall at The Schaghticoke Fair there will be a table set up at two events this Spring. The first event, at which the Veterans Hall Committee will be present, is the Pet Festival held at the Schaghticoke Fair on May 20, from 10 am to 3 pm, which will include a bake sale to raise money for expanding the displays.

A Few Places Left For The Ken Baker Golf Tournament

The fifth annual Ken Baker Golf Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, June 16, at the Hoosick Falls Country Club. The tournament will raise funds for the Coach Baker Fund which benefits the youth of both Hoosick Falls and Cambridge.

The Great American Pet Festival

Calling one, calling all pet owners. The Schaghticoke Fair is proud to announce the 5th Annual Great American Pet Festival to be held on Sunday, May 20, at the Schaghticoke Fairgrounds, from 10 am until 3 pm. The festival, sponsored by PETCO, will feature give-a ways, pet groomers, on-site pet adoptions, Save-A-Bull, vendors, rescue groups, raffles, demonstrations (including dog agility), 4-H information, a lecture from Alternative Animal Care Therapies and more. The Chicks n’ Chaps Drill team will be performing throughout the day.

Hoosic River Riverfest Is On May 26

Riverfest, the annual celebration of the Hoosic River sponsored by the Hoosic River Watershed Association (HooRWA), will be held at Cole Field on the Williams College campus from 11 am to 4 pm on Saturday, May 26.  Admission is $5 in advance and $7 at the gate per person. Children 10 and under will be admitted free.

Sportsmen’s Flea Market

The Owlkill Rod & Gun Club will hold its spring 2012 Sportsmen’s Flea Market on Saturday, May 26, from 9 am to 4 pm at the Owlkill Club House and grounds with vendor set-up beginning at 8 am.  The facility is located just off Route 22 approximately 4 miles south of the village of Cambridge.  Look for signs.

Clara Marie Campbell

Hoosick – Clara Marie Campbell, 75, passed away on May 8, 2012, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT. She had resided on Route 67 in Hoosick, NY.
Services were private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were handled by the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street, in Hoosick Falls, NY.
