Due to vacation issues the regular meeting of the Hoosick Town Board was held on Tuesday, April 3. The future of the Armory still dominated a portion of the meeting, though there appeared to be a kinder, gentler approach from all sides. Once again the meeting room was filled to overflowing.

To The Editor:
In regards to the Hoosick Falls Armory issue that has become a point of contention in our community. The simple fact is that communities and cities everywhere are scaling back services as well as spending. Areas of Detroit, Michigan, have essentially been abandoned because the city can no longer afford to provide services such as water or care of roads because of a lack of revenue. Hoosick – Barbara J. Sprague, 84, passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2012, at the Hoosick Falls Health Center. Formerly she had resided on Rowley Road in Hoosick, NY, and was the wife of the late Malcolm Sprague, who died in 1991.

Lions Club Annual Penny Hunt
The Hoosick Lions Club Annual Penny Hunt will be held on Saturday, March 31, at 1 pm at Wood Memorial Park. The Rain date is Saturday, April 7.
There will also be a raw egg tossing contest. Prizes are awarded to winners of the Hunt and the Toss.

I greatly appreciate you reaching out to various members of the Board for their thoughts on taking possession of the Armory. Personally my love for the building is enormous, the architectural layout of the building to start with is one of a kind. Letter To The Editor – A Hidden Agenda?
To the Editor:
I was dismayed to read your account of the Hoosick Town Council meeting held on February 29. Apparently, the Council voted to suspend the process of hiring an engineering/architectural firm to study the cost of keeping the Armory as the Town Hall, versus building a new building. This action was taken based on the unexplained advice of the absent Town lawyer, despite clear evidence that the Request for Proposal process was completely legal and untainted.
