Friends Of The Cheney Library Dinner

Friends of the Cheney Library invite you to Dine Out to Help Out. On December 7, between 5 and 8 pm the Hoosick Falls Diner will donate a portion of the night’s proceeds to expand programs and services offered by the Cheney Library to our community. There will be a 50/50 Raffle and Book Basket Raffles held during the evening. Special thanks is given to the Falls Diner for their generous offer. You will also have an opportunity to join the Friends of Cheney Library group. So please join us for an evening of fun and food that will benefit our community.

Local Thrift Store Open Two Extra Days In December

Local Girl Scouts will once again open the Thrift Store on the first Friday and Saturday of the month. The hours are Friday, December 2, from 4 to 7 pm and Saturday, December 3, from 9:30 am to noon. The shop is also open weekly on Thursdays from 10 am to 2 pm.

Hoosick Veterans Memorial Wall Dedicated

On Friday, November 11 (11/11/11) American Legion Post #40 and the members of the Veterans Wall Committee dedicated the new Veterans Memorial Wall in Wood Park. The event started at 11 am with the placing of wreaths in front of the new bronze plaques by veterans Ike Powers, Ed Gorman, Ben Nowik Frank Wilwol, Harold Bowen and Jim Cutler.

Hoosick Town Board Action – Hoosick Approves Budget With 1.034% Increase

The final business on the agenda for the Town of Hoosick at the November 14 Board meeting was approval of the 2012 budget. Earlier in the meeting both Jim Martinez and Dennis Casey repeatedly questioned the way some of the budget was put together, particularly in the area of health insurance. North Hoosick Fire Department Free Christmas Bazaar

The North Hoosick Fire Department will sponsor its 9th annual free Christmas Bazaar which will be held on Saturday, December 17, from 9 am to 1 pm at the fire station on Rt. 22. This year the Fire Department is asking area businesses and individuals to donate new or like new items for this bazaar. Cash donations are also welcomed and can be sent to the Fire Department. Hoosick Grange News

Hoosick Grange had an open meeting on November 9, which began with a covered dish supper. It was also awards night. Master David Cornell welcomed everyone and our honored guest, Mr. Ted Schwabrow. Boy Scout Troop 65 Selling Holiday Wreaths

Boy Scouts will again sell wreaths this holiday season. The beautiful 14” Frasier fir wreaths sell for $12 plain, $14 with red or burgundy bow or $16 complete with decorations. Wreaths are delivered  to your home in Hoosick, Berlin, Bennington or Cambridge areas before Thanksgiving or can be  picked up at the First Baptist Church on Sunday, November 27, from 6 to 8pm.  Call Scoutmaster Larry Mango at 518-686-1796 to order.

Hoosick Voters Elect Republican Board

Ideal weather conditions didn’t add to the numbers at the polls in the Town of Hoosick this past Tuesday. Voter turnout was more than 250 shy of what it was two years ago. None the less, Republican incumbent Supervisor Keith Cipperly defeated Democrat Laura Reynolds by more than 200 votes.

Hoosick Tales – Book Three
