Hoosick Area Community Artists Guild

All are welcome to join the newly formed Hoosick Area Youth Center & Community Coalition (HAYC3) Artists’ Guild. The guild is a grassroots effort to gather amateur and professional artists, art enthusiasts and art patrons in the Hoosick area. The goal is to share artistic knowledge, discuss each artist’s work, develop a means to show work, discuss new materials and trends, develop communal art projects and provide insight for continued individual growth and development. Three Races For Office In Hoosick

Incumbent Republican Keith Cipperly is running for a second term as Hoosick Town Supervisor. He is opposed by former Hoosick Falls Mayor Democrat Laura Reynolds. Democrat Bob Ryan is seeking his eleventh term as Hoosick Councilman and Republican Mark Surdam is seeking his third term. They are opposed by first time Republican candidate Bruce Patire and former Hoosick Falls Village Trustee Democrat Marie O’Neil. Town Justice Dick Whalen is running unopposed.

Hoosick Grange News

It was Grange night on October 26. Master David Cornell conducted the business meeting. After reports from the different committees, David was also in charge of the Lecturer’s program. His theme was Halloween. This is the time for fall colors, red and black. David gave out papers with the word Halloween, and we had to make as many words out of it as possible. This is a time of parties and trick or treat, lots of games and bobbing for apples. He told us about black cats, witches, bats, spiders and Count Dracula. Halloween is also known as All Hallows Eve. Hoosick Board Reviews 2012 Budget

On Monday evening Hoosick Town Councilmen had their first opportunity to review the 2012 budget presented to them by Town Supervisor Keith Cipperly. The budget workshop began at 6:30 and concluded three hours later. By that time everyone was chilled to the bone as there appeared to be no heat in the room. It may have been due to a furnace failure or to the fact that the Town is now responsible for heating and lighting the huge building.
