Vets Wall Almost Ready For 11-11-11

The Veterans Wall committee is working to get the wall ready for the dedication on 11/11/11 at 11 am. The five plaques containing the names of the veterans have arrived. The grinding wheel has been placed on the pedestal in the center front of the wall. The wheel will make a fine place for sitting and observing the plaques. The flag pole given to us by the Post Office is the next item to be placed. This will take a special base in order to have it firmly in the ground. Prescription Take Back Day Is October 29 In Hoosick Falls

The community is invited to bring unused prescription drugs to the Hoosick Falls Village Police Department during “Prescription Take Back Day” on Saturday, October 29, from 10 am to 2 pm. This opportunity to safely discard unwanted medications is sponsored by the Hoosick Area Youth Center and Community Coalition (HAYC3).

Town of Hoosick Annual Halloween Parade

Grab your costume and join in the Town of Hoosick’s Annual Halloween Parade on Sunday, October 30. The parade will start and end at Wood Memorial Park beginning at 6 pm.
Prizes will be awarded for the cutest, scariest, funniest and most original costumes. Following the parade, Halloween treats will be provided.

Time To Register Young Hoopsters In The Hoosick Area

Registration is now being accepted for the Hoosick Area Youth Center’s Annual Youth Basketball Program. This fun, recreational program, geared toward improving skills and teamwork through weekly practices and league games, is open to boys and girls from kindergarten through eighth grade.

Letter To The Editor – Corrections?

To The Editor:
I attended both the Hoosick Falls Village and the Hoosick Town Board meetings last week, and I would like to correct some of the information in the articles in the October 14 issue.
I did not hear anyone on the Village Board say they did not know the Green Heights sub-division contract with the Town was expiring, although Supervisor Cipperly did say he was unaware. And I believe it was Greg Laurin, not Morin, who spoke on behalf of the Green Heights residents, chastising Mr. Cipperly for his lack of awareness.

Bene`e Celeste Hunt

Buskirk, NY – Bene`e Celeste Hunt, 46, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2011, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, in Bennington, VT, after battling cancer for several months. Bene`e was born on January 6, 1965, at Griffin Hospital in Connecticut to Leroy (Elain) Smith and the late Beverly (Richard) Langevin.

Hoosick Planning Board Action – October 2011

The subdivision of a 224.45-acre parcel in Eagle Bridge was approved by the Hoosick Planning Board Tuesday.
The new parcel is located off Route 67. Totaling about 154 acres, it will be sold to the Ziehm family for agricultural use.
Last month the subdivision was proposed by George Holbrook, attorney for Greta Daun, owner of the property. Planners, at that time, had concerns about access to the land.

Hoosick Grange News – Music Night

It was music night and bring can goods night at Grange on October 12; we had two boxes plus other goods. The Lecturer introduced Janet Hurd, a music teacher. Janet teaches at Forrest Ward Memorial School in North Bennington. Janet is a one-lady band and can play any instrument. Janet introduced all of her instruments she had with her.
