Area motorcyclists are invited to participate in the “Meet In the Park” Motorcycle Ride on Saturday, October 2. The rain date is Sunday, October 3. The first 100 riders will receive T-shirts. The cost is $25 and includes a paper bag lunch, prizes and more. The ride will benefit the Karen McGovern Fund. The Fund is a not-for-profit that benefits local families suffering medical crises. The ride begins in Wood Park at noon.

Hoosick – A celebration of life and private burial for Eliot Wiggin Kerr was held on Thursday, September 23, 2010, at the Hoosick Rural Cemetery, Hoosick, NY.
Mr. Kerr, 79, died suddenly on February 11, 2010, following a hit and run accident in Jackson Township, NJ. He leaves his loving daughter, E. Wendy Baker of Hoosick Falls, NY, his devoted granddaughter, Jessie S. Baker of Ballston Lake, NY, and his beloved grandsons, Matthew J. and Lucas H. Baker, both of Hoosick Falls.

Hoosick Falls Dispatch Will Be Terminated

After several meetings, two Public Hearings and months of discussion, the Hoosick Falls Village Board voted four to three on Monday, September 20, to discontinue Village Dispatch Service with the following resolution.
“The Village of Hoosick Falls, in an attempt to consolidate services, reduce spending and adhere to a statewide focus on 911 services, hereby resolves to terminate the department of dispatch on May 1, 2011 at which time all emergency services shall be dispatched by Rensselaer County 911 in accordance with the agreed upon contract.”

Pumpkinpalooza Schedule Loaded With Fun
The schedule of events for the Second Annual Hoosick Pumpkinpalooza is loaded with family-friendly activities that will appeal to visitors young and old. A tentative listing of events appears on the Hoosick Area Youth Center & Community Coalition (HAYC3) website, www.hoosickyouth.org. During the festival, the most current information will be available at the information booths located in Wood Memorial Park and at the Town of Hoosick Athletic Fields. Both locations are just off Main Street in Hoosick Falls.

Brunswick Grange Tailgate Sale
On Sunday, October 3, Brunswick Grange will hold a tailgate sale at the Schaghticoke Fairgrounds, Rt. 67 & 40, Schaghticoke, from 8 am to 12:30 pm. Up to 50 vendors will have various varieties of chickens, ducks, geese, pigeons, plants, flowers and other related agricultural items. A donation of $15 per vendor will be charged. Lewd Behavior In Tibbits Forest Reported

At the regular meeting of the Hoosick Town Board on Monday, September 13, Town Supervisor Keith Cipperly reported that a mother and daughter saw people performing lewd acts while they were walking in Tibbits Forest. “This is a big problem,” said Cipperly. He said people should call Forest Ranger Joe Hess or the NYS Dispatch at 877-457-5680 to report such situations. There have been complaints that individuals can’t walk in the forest or fish in the brook because of the problem. The Board wondered what the State is doing about it.
