American Legion Flag Day Ceremony

The American Legion Post #40 in Hoosick Falls will hold a Flag Day Ceremony at the Post at 150 Main St. in Hoosick Falls. It will be at 6 pm on June 14. Please join us as we celebrate the adoption of our flag. There will be music and speakers as well as refreshments following the ceremony. Everyone is welcome.

Community Awareness Forum On Suicide Prevention

Suicide is a serious public health problem that every community needs to be aware of in order to prevent. On June 7 from     6 to 8 pm there will be a suicide awareness forum at Hoosick Falls Community Youth Center on Church Street in Hoosick Falls. Topics will include how to talk to kids about suicide, peer intervention, bullying and survivor support within the community. Interested parents, teens, school staff and community members should attend.

Relay For Life

This year marks the 26th anniversary of the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life.  Each year our team participates, as well as many others, and “hits the track” at Mount Anthony Union High School for a night of remembrance and fraternity as we raise monies to help find a cure.

Battlefield Now An Eyesore

Hoosick Town Historian Phil Leonard drove to the Bennington Battlefield Wednesday. He was heartsick. “It’s despicable what they have let happen in such a short time,” he said. “Even if they open the Park again, it won’t be the same. The grass is already 10 inches high!” The gate across the Battlefield road is shut, and a red and white closed sign is on it. “It should say abandoned,” said Leonard in disgust. “NY State lawmakers should be ashamed of themselves! They do not care about the people of this state at all!” He was so upset that he said he feels all the incumbents should be voted out of office! “If it wasn’t for that battle, they might not even be in office!” he added.

HFCS Be Smart, Be Safe Lesson Aired On Channel 13

HFCS Senior Girls received a powerful lesson on life in the outside world Wednesday, May 19, from Physical Education teacher Lisa Ferrannini and Health teacher Colleen Corcoran. Elaine Houston of Channel 13 television observed the session and put together a piece on it that aired Thursday evening, May 20, as part of her Today’s Women series. 1944 Willys Jeep Exhibit At The Memorial Day

The Hoosick Falls Veterans Memorial Wall Committee is proud to announce the exhibit of an original World War II Willys Jeep.  The Jeep along with trailer, armament and full gear will be on display at Wood Park on Monday, Memorial Day.  Jim McCormick, owner of the exhibit, will be on hand to tell the story of the Jeep. Sunday Ceremony At The Hoosick Rural Cemetery
