Pittstown – Robert F. Martinoli, 75, passed away, after a brief illness, on Friday, April 16, 2010, at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. He had resided on the Johnsonville Road in Pittstown, NY, with his wife Rita (Luskin) Martinoli.

Fire Leaves Residents Homeless

A fire that broke out just before 11 pm on Wednesday night at 313 Johnsonville Road will leave many homeless. Everyone was accounted for, according to the Fire Chief’s radio report to the County dispatch. As of press time there were no known injuries from the blaze and from the scene the house looks salvageable but has heavy fire, water and smoke damage. There was word that the Red Cross was called in to assist the displaced family members.

Hoosick Town Board Action – April 2010

The regular monthly Town of Hoosick Board meeting took place this past Monday, April 12, in the Hoosick Falls Armory with Supervisor Keith Cipperly calling the meeting to order at 7 pm. After the Pledge of Allegiance the minutes of last month’s Board meeting were approved. Councilmen Louis Schmigel, Mark Surdam, Bob Ryan and Jeff Wysocki were present, along with Town Clerk Sue Stradinger and the town attorney.
The Town Clerk’s report was accepted with 21 death certificates being of note. The Assessor’s report, by Tony Rice, was in order.

Town Hall Meeting On Issues Facing Youth

The community is invited to attend an important Town Hall meeting hosted by the Hoosick Area Youth Center & Community Coalition. Scheduled for Wednesday, April 28, at 6 pm at the Youth Center, 115 Church Street in Hoosick Falls, the event will focus on adolescent substance abuse and social host legislation.

St. Mary’s Academy Spring Auction

St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls is holding its Annual Spring Auction on Saturday, April 17, at the school at 4 Parsons Avenue. Priceless works of art created by the students will be up for bid as well as a Queen Natural Form Mattress Set from WCW, Mets baseball tickets for the June 6 game against the Florida Marlins, 3-day accommodations on Martha’s Vineyard, brunch for 4 at the Gideon Putnam Hotel in Saratoga Springs, autographed jerseys from Donovan McNabb, Chris Pronger and Andre Iguodala, season passes to Hathaway’s Drive-In in North Hoosick and much more! Horseshoe League Meeting

There will be a horseshoe league meeting at the Barbecue on Tuesday, April 20, at 7 pm.
Anyone interested in pitching or who has a team should attend. The league pitches on Wednesday and Thursday nights beginning at 6:20 pm.

Fish Stocking On The Walloomsac

On Friday, April 9, family, friends and members of The Pioneer Fish and Game Club supplied the needed manpower to stock the Walloomsac River. Vine & Branches Gallery Offers Fine Crafts

Sometimes it takes a long while for a dream to come to fruition. Mina Zaffarano has dreamed of having a shop of her own to display crafts for 30 years. In December 2009, after two years of planning, she finally opened her dream store on Route 7 in Hoosick. A beautiful array of hand crafted items is slowly filling the 4,000 square foot building behind the barn and next to Tammy’s Candy Kettle that formerly housed sporting goods.
