Boy Scout Troop 65 Chili Sale To Benefit Cystic Fibrosis

Once again scouts from Troop 65 will be selling their homemade chili in front of the Grand Union from 10 am  to 2 pm on Sunday, February 6. Treat yourself to a fresh bowl of chili complete with cornbread and the fixin’s for only $7. All proceeds are donated to the Northeastern NY  Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Hoosick Grange met on January 26. It wasn’t a bad night, but attendance was lower. The January 12 meeting was cancelled because of bad weather. It’s amazing that the Grange was started in January in 1908, when they came with horse and wagons.  The Master, David Cornell, called on Martha Babbitt to report on the conference that she attended. 4 H Roast Beef Dinner Fund Raiser

The Rensselaer County 4-H Teen Exchange will be holding a roast beef dinner fund raiser at the Pittstown United Methodist Church Hall, 45 Old Route 7, Pittstown, on Saturday, February 12, serving from 4 to 6 pm.  Reservations cost $9 for adults (12 years and older), $5 for children (5 to 11 years) and free for children 4 years and under. Dinners purchased at the door will cost $10 for adults and $6 for children.

A Program On Morgan’s Artillery

John (Mac) McEvilly will present a program on Morgan’s Artillery, a local Civil War re-enactment group, to the Stephentown Historical Society on Monday, February 7, at 7:30 pm. The meeting will be at the Stephentown Heritage Center on Garfield Road, Stephentown. It is free and open to the public. Free Appliance Drop Off At Columbia County Waste Stations

New Lebanon Town Clerk Colleen Teal announced that Columbia County solid waste stations will accept appliances and metal during the months of February and March free of charge.
Metal appliances and items will be accepted at all solid waste stations with the exception of refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, water coolers and air conditioners which must be taken to the Greenport Transfer Station due to EPA regulations.

Grafton Library Holds FAFSA Workshop

The Grafton Community Library will be holding a FAFSA Workshop on Saturday, February 19, from 10 am to 12 pm.  Grafton resident Lisa Dooley, Student Loan Coordinator and Financial Aid Counselor at the Sage Colleges in Troy, will be on hand to assist parents in filling out the online FAFSA forms, which are required for college students who wish to apply for financial aid for college.  She will also answer general questions about the process of choosing a college and searching for financial aid. Registration is not required, but if you know you will be attending, please contact the Library at 279-0580 or director@graftoncommunitylibrary.org.

Mountain Road School Open House

Mountain Road School will host two events – an In-School Open House on Tuesday, February 8, from 9 am to 12 pm and  an evening Open House on February 11, from 5 to 7 pm. The In-school event on February 8 will provide prospective parents and children with an opportunity to tour the school while classes are in session.
