The Tsatsawassa Protective Fire Company will offer its monthly breakfast on Sunday, April 18, at the fire house with servings from 8 am until noon. Breakfast consists of your choice of French toast or pancakes as well as bacon or sausage, toast, orange juice, applesauce and eggs prepared to your specifications.
The fire house is located behind the post office near the intersection of Routes 20 and 66 north in the hamlet of Brainard. For more information, call 766-3815.

Grafton FD Breakfast
The Grafton Volunteer Fire Department along with the Grafton Ladies Auxiliary will be holding an All You Can Eat Buffet Breakfast on Saturday, April 24, from 8 to 11 am at the Grafton VFW – Fire Hall on South Road (County Route 85). Belgian waffles, pancakes, French toast, eggs (made to order), bacon, sausage, home fries, toast, orange juice, coffee and milk are on the menu. The cost is $8 per adult, $4 for kids 12 and under and free for kids 5 and under.
Texas Hold’em
The Veterans of Stephentown will sponsor a Texas Hold’em Tournament on Saturday, April 24, in the Stephentown Fire Hall, located on Grange Hall Road in Stephentown. The doors will open at 5 pm and close at 6 pm. Play begins at 6:15 sharp.
No advance registration is required, and a donation of $25 per player is accepted. Players can pay at the door and can buy 1,000 extra chips for $10. This tournament will pay eight places; the first player out receives $25 back.

Erik Parisi Promoted
Brigadier General Patrick A. Murphy, The Adjutant General for the State of New York, has announced that Erik Parisi from Stephentown, serving with 827th Engineer Company Horiz Rear is promoted to the rank of Private 1st Class in recognition of his capability for additional responsibility and leadership.
Army National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability, and development potential.

Fish Stocking On The Walloomsac
On Friday, April 9, family, friends and members of The Pioneer Fish and Game Club supplied the needed manpower to stock the Walloomsac River. Woods Walk At Dyken Pond
The Rensselaer Plateau Alliance is hosting a Woods Walk Series this spring to increase understanding of woodlot management and enjoyment of forests. The first in the series will be held at the Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center on Saturday, April 24. Trail Clean Up Volunteers Needed
The Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center is looking for volunteers to work on trail clean-up on Saturday, April 24, from 1:30 to 4 pm. Trails need to be cleared from winter debris and blow-downs. Volunteers will work on teams and can volunteer for the whole afternoon or just an hour or two. Refreshments will be provided. Full Moon Hike At Dyken Pond
Take a twilight full moon walk and experience the sounds sensation of early spring at the Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center on Wednesday evening, April 28, from 7 to 9 pm. During twilight we will walk to Dustin Swamp to listen for spring peepers (frogs) and barred owls. As dark descends, we’ll watch the full moon rise over the lake. This program is free and is an easy paced hike of about 1½ miles. Experienced guides will show you how to hike without a flashlight, using night vision to guide your way. No registration required. Body Not Yet Found Of Woman Presumed Drowned

The Hoosick Falls Police Department, area firefighters and State and County rescue personnel were all part of a search operation on the Hoosic River Easter Sunday and Monday. According to Police Chief Robert Ashe, a call came in about 12:15 am that a woman might have fallen in the river near the River St. bridge. Witnesses told police they had seen a woman walking in and out of the road and they had spoken to her. They said she appeared “highly intoxicated.” The woman told them she was going into the woods by the river. They lost sight of her and a short time later they heard a splash.
