Restoring Cemeteries

Joseph Ferrannini will give an illustrated talk on restoring cemeteries on Monday, April 5, to the Stephentown Historical Society. The meeting is at 7:30 pm at the Heritage Center on Garfield Road (County Route 26) in Stephentown. It is free and open to the public. The building is handicapped accessible. Stephentown Book Group To Meet

The Stephentown Library Book Discussion Group will read Kaaterskill Falls: a Novel by Allegra Goodman for its meeting on Thursday, April 1.  A rich exploration of the summer of 1976 in a tiny Catskill town where Jewish Orthodox summer people and Yankee year-rounders coexist.  The communities are changing – the lives of Orthodox women as they seek their own identities, the religious community as their beloved rabbi nears the end of his life and chooses a successor and the town as over-development threatens the wooded hills.

On February 16, John Hendricks and his family of Berlin received word that he was recommended and accepted by peers, instructors and community leaders to participate in the People to People Student Ambassador Program. Acceptance into the program was based on a demonstration of leadership and citizenship, a desire to learn about diverse cultures and a willingness to venture into the world in the name of peace, friendship and understanding. Lt. Col. Eric C. Weber Returns From Iraq

Army National Guard Lt. Col. Eric C. Weber is returning to the U.S. after a deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He will return to Fort Dix, NJ, for debriefing, evaluations and out-processing procedures before returning to his regularly assigned National Guard unit.

TVSC Annual Meeting

The annual meeting of the Taconic Valley Soccer Club Inc. will be Tuesday, March 30, at the Berlin Library. The annual meeting will start at 7 pm and be followed by the monthly meeting.
Registration for the Spring season (k-5) has begun. Forms can be gotten at the Town Library and the elementary school office.
