Congressman Scott Murphy (NY-20) will hold events in the 20th District on Monday, March 8, to continue his focus on the economy, bringing jobs to the area and helping the middle class.
Congressman Murphy will tour Averill Park High School at 1 pm with concerned students, parents and educators to assess the on-the-ground situation and talk with those directly affected by expected budget cuts.

According to Amy Manchester, the mandatory training for emergency responders on February 13 was a huge success. Parents Raising Safe Kids Program Starts March 15
Parents are invited to participate in a free eight-week program called Parents Raising Safe Kids at the Hoosick Family Resource Center (CEO Head Start Building) on River Road. The program begins on March 15 and will be held each Monday from 5 to 8 pm.

Jeremy Burns Wrestles For New England Wrestling Association Title
Springfield College freshman Jeremy Burns of Hoosick Falls who had lost a match early on in the New England Wrestling Association’s (NEWA) Conference tournament last weekend, came all the way back to wrestle for the individual title in the 184-pound weight classification before losing. Irish Stew Cook-Off
The Hoosick Falls Irish Festival will host its first ever Irish Stew Cook-Off on Saturday, March 13. Girl Scout Troop #1144 will be selling cookies at Stewart’s in Hoosick (corner of Routes 22 and 7) on Friday, March 12, from 4 to 9 pm and Saturday, March 13, from 8 am to 12 pm. Cookies are $3.50 per box (cash only).

The Grafton Volunteer Fire Department along with the Grafton Ladies Auxiliary will be holding an All You Can Eat Buffet Breakfast on Saturday, March 27, from 8 to 11 am at the Grafton VFW – Fire Hall on South Road (County Route 85). Belgian waffles, pancakes, French toast, eggs (made to order), bacon, sausage, home fries, toast, orange juice, coffee and milk are on the menu. The cost is $8 per adult, $4 for kids 12 and under and free for kids under 5.
