The Hoosick Falls Community Band under the direction of Bill Gaillard will begin its summer concert series in Wood Memorial Park on Wednesday, July 6, at 7:30 pm.
Concerts will be held on Wednesday evenings until August 24. In the event of rain, the program for that evening is cancelled. Concerts are played from 7:30 until 9 pm each evening with music from marches, pop tunes, Broadway Show medleys and overtures.

Two year old Saige Iris Myers of Babcock Lake in Grafton visits the Moses Cemetery with her parents, Zachary Patrick and Megan Phyfe Myers, in light of Independence Day and in honor of a local ancestor who began to fight for our independence during the American Revolution more than 235 years ago. North Hoosick Fire Department Kids Pool Dance
The North Hoosick Fire Department will be holding its 7th Annual kids pool dance at the Town of Hoosick Community Pool on Barton Avenue in Hoosick Falls on Friday, July 8. Students aged 9 to 15 in area schools are invited to attend the festivities, which will begin at 7 pm. Students will be able to swim until dark and then dance to music until 10:30 pm. Tickets for the dance can be |purchased at the door on the day of the event. A rain date of Friday, July 15, has been set in case of inclement weather. Parents must sign their child out after the dance.
Stephentown Historical Society Potluck Dinner
The summer potluck dinner meeting of the Stephentown Historical Society will be Monday, July 11, at 6:30 pm at the Stephentown Heritage Center, Garfield Road (County Route 26), Stephentown. Those attending should bring a hearty appetite and a dish large enough to share, either main dish, salad or dessert. Plates, utensils and beverages will be provided. Stephentown Town Board Meeting – Correction

It seems we were misinformed at last week’s Stephentown Town Board meeting about Helen Kenyon Johnson. Helen is indeed celebrating her 100th birthday on July 8, but it is not true as we reported that she worked at Sykes Store for many years. Paul Sykes informs us that it was her sister-in-law, Helen B. Kenyon, who was a long time employee of the store. Helen Kenyon Johnson was never employed at Sykes.
LeBarron Family Reunion
The 79th Annual LeBarron Family Reunion will be held at Washington County Parks Lake Lauderdale, Rt. 22, in the Town of Jackson, on Sunday, July 17. Lunch will be served at 12:30 pm sharp! A meeting will be held prior to lunch. Bring a meat to grill and a covered dish (hot or cold), the size of your family, to share. Beverage will be provided. Bring photos and other memorabilia to share! Admission is $2 per person (children six and under enter free). This includes swimming with life guards on duty all day. Please note – the entrance fee to park is $2 per car. The Park is open 11 am to 7 pm.
