Born in Pittsfield, MA, Joan was the beloved daughter of William F. and Floy M. Hall. She was raised in Stephentown, NY, and attended New Lebanon Central School. Joan was a member of the National Honor Society, graduating in 1959 at the age of 16.

Changing Of The Guard At The Berlin Republican Caucus

The Berlin Republican Party held its Caucus for the upcoming November elections on June 9 at the Berlin Fire House. Ninety to a hundred people attended the caucus, but only the 79 Republicans who had voted in the last election as registered Republicans could cast a ballot at this caucus. Plans For Dougherty’s Corner In Hoosick Falls

On Tuesday, July 12, following the Village Board meeting, Alex Koks will meet with the Village Zoning Board to review changes in his original plan for the property at the corner of Main and John Streets. The changes he would like to make are for the first floor of the planned Bed and Breakfast and restaurant. He would like to decrease the size of the restaurant to serve 24 people. In the remainder of the first floor he would like to construct an apartment for the manager of the B&B and a handicapped accessible guest room.

Jane Fitzgerald Is Grand Marshal Of The Berlin July Fourth Parade

The Berlin 4th of July Parade Committee is pleased to announce the selection of long-time resident, Jane Fitzgerald, as the 2011 July 4th Parade Grand Marshal. Jane, more affectionately known as “Auntie Jane,” has been involved with the parade for 17 years. She is still active today as Committee Chair.

Reynolds Foundation Distributes Funds
Checks from the Edith Craig Reynolds Foundation were given to local organizations in the Town of Hoosick on June 23 at 7 pm at the Town of Hoosick Historical Association.
The checks were from the Rev. Edith Craig Reynolds Residual Fund administered by Key Bank Trust and channeled through the Reynolds Foundation.

Stephentown Historical Society’s Annual Strawberry Festival

The Stephentown Historical Society’s 30th Annual Strawberry Festival, held at The Berry Patch on Sunday, June 26, featured strawberry shortcake with freshly picked strawberries, ice cream and homemade biscuits. Volunteers provided homemade strawberry rhubarb pies that were sold as a whole pie or by the slice. Volunteers also picked 214 pounds of berries on Thursday night between the thunder storms, and yet more volunteers spent a good part of Friday hulling and cleaning.

Hoosick All Star Baseball Weekend

All weekend long, June 25 and 26, “Play Ball” could be heard around the diamonds at the Town of Hoosick fields on Waterworks Road.
The League’s Second Annual All Star baseball tournament for the eight and under age group had four teams competing last year and eight this year. The teams hailed from Williamstown, MA, Bennington and Pownal, VT, and Brunswick, Cambridge, Greenwich, Halfmoon and Hoosick Falls.
Defending Champions Bennington won again this year defeating Greenwich in the finals. Halfmoon beat Hoosick Falls in the Consolation game.
