Funeral Notice For Margaret L. Lombard

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 12, in the Garfield Cemetery at 11 am for Margaret L. “Marge” Lombard, who died on February 26, 2010, at her home. Rev. Susan Schultz, pastor of the Stephentown Federated Church will officiate. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Marge is survived by her children, George B. Lombard, Jr. and Marsha and her husband Jeff Henderson.

Parnas Sisters Head To Indiana University

On May 8 at age 19, Madalyn Parnas of Stephentown received her diploma from The College of Saint Rose, graduating summa cum laude with concentrations in both French and Music. Stephentown Book Group

The Stephentown Library Book Discussion Group will read Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides for its meeting on Thursday, June 3.  This Pulitzer Prize winner tells the story of three generations of a Greek-American family as they travel from a tiny village in Turkey to Prohibition-era Detroit, witnessing its glory days as the Motor City and then the race riots of 1967 and finally fleeing to suburban Grosse Pointe. They carry with them a guilty family secret and astonishing genetic history.
Meetings are held in the Community Room at the Stephentown Memorial Library, Main Street, Stephentown, from noon to 1 pm.  Bring a lunch if you like.  Copies of the book are available at the Library desk. New readers are always welcome.

Laura A. McEwan

Stephentown – Laura A. Meddaugh McEwan, 85, of Cranston Hill Road, Stephentown, NY, died on Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, MA, after being stricken at her home.
Born November 15, 1924, in Stephentown, she was the daughter of the late Orin and Mabel Clifford Meddaugh. She was the loving wife of the late William G. McEwan, who died on June 13, 1987. They were married in Stephentown on March 23, 1946.

Plan For Stephentown Moto-Cross Track Tabled

Howard Commander, in partnership with event organizer Sean Sermini, has plans for a Moto-Cross sports park in Stephentown that they believe could in the near future attract the best riders in the world and up to 30,000 spectators to national competitions. The Stephentown Zoning Board last Thursday held a public hearing on an application for a zoning variance from Commander, owner of the Lebanon Valley Speedway, to use nine acres out of a 90-acre parcel he owns off of Webster Hill Road adjacent to the Speedway to construct the Moto-Cross field. The land is zoned Residential.
