Hoosick Summer Family Fair

San Damiano Family Support Services has announced that it will hold a Summer Family Fair in Hoosick Falls on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, August 26-28. It will be held at the Town of Hoosick athletic field. Admission is free.
There will be rides, concession stands, food and vendors and a three day encampment by the Boy Scouts to celebrate 100 years of Scouting.

Community Drum Freak Out

Musician and educator Allen Livermore leads the second annual Community Drum Freak Out on Monday, August 23, at 3 pm at the New Lebanon Library. The free program, which offers participants the opportunity to play as part of drum circle, improvise and have fun, is open to all ages and all levels of prior experience. Participants should bring their own drums, shakers, cowbells and other percussion instruments.

Defensive Driving Course

The Northeast New York Safety & Health Council will sponsor the Defensive Driving Course at the Hoosick Falls Health Center, Danforth Street, Hoosick Falls, on Saturday, September 11, beginning at 8:30 am promptly.
Successful completion of this class allows for a 10 percent insurance reduction on collision and liability for 3 years as well as the reduction of 4 points from your driver’s license on points acquired in the prior 18 months.

Pre-Licensing Course

The Northeast New York Safety & Health Council will sponsor the Five Hour Pre-licensing course at the Hoosick Falls Health Center, Danforth Street, Hoosick Falls, on Wednesday, September 8, beginning at 3:30 pm promptly.
This program requires a pre-registration fee of $40 payable to NENY Safety and a valid NYS driver’s permit. Successful completion of this class, which includes passing a test, provides the student with the necessary paperwork (MV-278) to take the NYS Driver’s Test and is valid for one year.

Grafton Lakes State Park 25th Annual Run For The Roses

Runners from the local and Capital District areas, Massachusetts, Vermont, Virginia and New Jersey participated in the 25th Annual Run for the Roses at Grafton Lakes State Park on Sunday, August 8. The event benefits the Grafton Community Library. Activities started at 8 am with a Nature Walk around Shaver Pond to benefit the Courtney Carelli Literacy Foundation, followed by the Run.
