Two Day Hike Across The Rensselaer Plateau

Are you feeling adventurous for a two day, 25 mile hike? If so, hikers will meet at the Dyken Pond Center at 8 am on Saturday, September 25, where they will be transported to the starting point in Pittstown State Forest. Saturday’s hike will cover 10 miles and will end at Dyken Pond Center. Hikers will be treated to a BBQ dinner and can camp the night at the Center.

Fall Outdoor Fun Day At Grafton Lakes State Park

Grafton Lakes State Park is hosting their first ever Fall Fun Day on Sunday, September 26. The day’s events include the Barge Chaser Canoe and Kayak Race, a treasure hunt, a bike ride, a kayak demo and much more. Junior Naturalist Programs For Kids

Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center is offering weekend nature programs throughout the fall season. A Junior Naturalist Series will be held every Saturday morning from 10 am until 12 pm. Each week will cover a seasonal theme and include activities for children ages 3 through 10. On Sunday afternoons, a naturalist will offer fall foliage hikes for all ages from 1 to 3 pm.  Pre-registration is encouraged to help with planning but is not required. Grafton Man Earns Promotion

Timothy Etman from Grafton was recently promoted to 4th Degree Black Belt in a ceremony held at the Stephentown Town Hall. Etman’s rank is recognized by the following organization: John Izzo’s Okinawan Karate, Stephentown Self Defense Systems and Green Island Academy of Martial Arts. On behalf of the instructors and students of these organizations we wish to congratulate Mr. Etman on his achievement.

Grafton FD And Ladies Auxiliary Breakfast

The Grafton Volunteer Fire Department along with the Grafton Ladies Auxiliary will be holding an All You Can Eat Buffet Breakfast on Saturday, September 25, from 8 to 11 am at the Grafton VFW – Fire Hall on South Road (County Route 85).
The menu includes Belgian waffles, pancakes, French toast, eggs (made to order), bacon, sausage, home fries, toast, orange juice, coffee and milk.
The cost is $8 per adult, $4 per kid 12 and under and free for kids 5 and under. We look forward to serving you!

Eberly Brothers At The Grafton Historical Society

The Grafton Historical Society’s September meeting will be held at the Grafton Town Hall on September 15 at 7 pm.
The Society will host Charles Filkens, Curator of the Lewis Miller Museum in the Town of Hoosick. Filkens will present a DVD video program on the Eberly Brothers, big band era singers who sang with the Glen Miller Orchestra and the Dorsey Brothers and who hailed from Hoosick Falls.

Brunswick Library News

September events at the Brunswick Community Library at 4118 State Rt. 2 are:
• Storytime for ages up to 5 is held every Saturday at 11 am.
• Old Daley Chicken BBQ is on Friday, September 10, to benefit the Library. The BBQ will be held at the Wal-Mart Plaza on Route 7 from 4 to 7 pm. Dinner is $10 and includes potato, coleslaw and dessert. Buy your tickets at the Library now!
• The Friends of the Brunswick Community Library will  meet at the Library on Saturday, September 11, at 10 am.

AARP Defensive Driving Course In Grafton

Rensselaer County’s Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Road, Grafton, will be holding an AARP Safe Driving Course, on Thursday, September 30, from 9 am to 3 pm with a break at noon for lunch.
