Members of Boy Scout Troop 65 invite any boy who is at least 11 years old or who has completed the fifth grade to join the troop for a Campfire and Wiener Roast. It will be held on Sunday, September 30, from 5:30 to 7 pm at the First Baptist Church, Main Street, Hoosick Falls. Enjoy the campfire, food and activities along with demonstrations of our camping equipment. Find out about the hikes, canoe trips, campouts and mountains the scouts climb.

Open House And Mortgage Shredding At HACA Ministry Center
The community is invited to visit the HACA Ministry Center at 26 John Street on Sunday, September 30, from 2 to 4 pm to celebrate the retirement of the mortgage. Volunteers will be on hand to answer questions about the various programs available. The Center houses the HACA Food Closet, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and administrative office.

At the Village Board Meeting on Tuesday, September 11, Mayor Matt Monahan announced that the final study on the dissolution of the Village and alternatives to dissolution is almost done. Village of Hoosick Falls Board Meeting – Remembering 9/11

The Village of Hoosick Falls opened its regular monthly meeting at 6 pm Tuesday, September 11, with the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence to remember 9/11.
This was followed by Mayor Matt Monahan noting that Village Trustee John (Ersel) Hickey will be out for the next couple of months for cancer surgery. “Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family,” said the Mayor.

Sunshine And Rain Tournament

The annual Karen McGovern Volleyball Tournament was held on Saturday, September 8. In the morning the weather was absolutely gorgeous. It rained in the afternoon. It didn’t stop the volleyball enthusiasts. There appeared to be a sort of “Karen was tough feeling, so why should a little rain stop us.” And the sun came out again soon enough to dry everyone off.

HAYC3 Offers Babysitting Course
HAYC3 is offering a babysitting course for anyone 12 and older. The class will be held on Saturday, October 13, from 10 am to 12 pm at the Youth Center, 115 Church Street, Hoosick Falls.
Participants will discuss basic safety, ideas for fun activities to keep children occupied, what to do in an emergency and other useful tips to make their experience as a babysitter successful and enjoyable.
There is a fee which includes training materials. It is $15 for HAYC3 members and $25 for non-members. Please register in advance by calling HAYC3 at 518-686-9050.
