A Tale Of Two Playgrounds In Hoosick Falls

The Town castle playground, behind the Ice Kreme Kafe on Main Street and next to the basketball and tennis courts is a great playground with plenty of turrets, walkways and structures to climb, plus swings and a slide. It is a terrific place for the under 12 crowd to safely play. However, it is sometimes spoiled in the late evening and night by older kids. Hoosick Rescue Squad Sponsors 911 Memorial Service

On Sunday, September 11, the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad is sponsoring a 911 Candle Walk, Memorial Service and Open House. The public is invited to come and participate in this event, remembering that terrible tragedy ten years ago.

Hoosick Hometown Days Is This Weekend

It’s finally here!  The First Annual Hoosick Hometown Days will be held in partnership with the Hoosick Area Youth Center & Community Coalition (HAYC3) on August 25 – 27 at the Town of Hoosick Athletic Fields. Throughout the weekend, the grounds will be filled with vendors, concessions by local non-profit organizations and carnival rides and games provided by AmyLand Amusements.

Karen McGovern Volleyball Tournament

The 12th Annual Karen McGovern Memorial Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament will be held September 10 at the Sand Bar on Lyman Street in Hoosick Falls.
Registration will begin at 9 am and play will start shortly thereafter. A round robin format will be played in both Division A (competitive) and Division B (recreational) players. Glass mugs will be awarded to members of the winning teams in both divisions, and the Division A team’s name will be engraved on the permanent plaque maintained at the Sand Bar. There will be free T-shirts for all players.

Hoosick Falls – Bernard D. Graney, Sr., 86, husband of Beverly Vogler Graney, a resident of Ball Street, Hoosick Falls, NY, died at home on Friday, August 19, 2011. Born on September 8, 1924, in Hoosick Falls, he was the son of the late Mathilda Holvec Graney and Willard Graney.

WCW Is Moving To Vermont

WCW Chairman John Wilkinson confirmed this week that the mattress manufacturing company will be moving to Manchester, VT. He expects the Mechanic Street portion of the business to leave as quickly as possible, while the transfer from the Route 22 buildings will be more leisurely. He said the entire move should be completed within the next three months.
