The Village Board met on Tuesday, April 20, for the organizational meeting and budget hearing. Changes in the budget that Mayor Matt Monahan noted included the result of a big turnout on Grievance Day, substantially reduced ticket sales at the Transfer Station and increased Court fines. He anticipates CHIPS money will decrease from $92,000 to $75,000 and State Aid will be $54,000 less. There will be no increase in pay for employees or Board members. North Hoosick Fire Department To hold 250th Kids Dance
The North Hoosick Fire Department is celebrating its 250th kids dance on Friday, April 23, from 7 to 9:45 pm at the firehouse on Rt. 22. Students ages 9 to 15 who attend Cambridge Central, Hoosick Falls Central, St. Mary’s Academy or Mount Anthony Middle School are invited to attend this special event.

ADAPT Coffee House Concert
The Hoosick Falls Central School A.D.A.P.T committee will host a Coffee House Concert on Saturday, May 1, at 7 pm at the Immaculate Conception Church Hall, 67 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. The Coffee House Concert will feature musical entertainment by The Brewster’s, Krissy Fauler, Wayne Willson and Shari Hand as well as by Anne Smith, a professional vocalist from NYC.

Jason Sykes Rocks Pins For Perfect Game
Jason Sykes recorded his first career perfect game on Friday, April 9, while bowling in the Friday National League at the Barbecue Recreation in Hoosick Falls. The 300 game came in the last game of the contest and followed games of 239 and 216 for a total three game series of 755. Jason bowled for the team sponsored by Falls Auto Service.

Hoosick Falls Board Action – Neighbors Complain About Pets And Cars

At the Hoosick Falls Village Board meeting on Tuesday, April 13, Patti and Bernie Zilinskas complained about the property at 1 School St. They told the Board they felt owner Bill Ingwersen was not living up to the Urban Development Project agreement he had with the Village. Ingwersen is converting the former VFW building into one single bedroom and four studio apartments, three on the first floor and two on the second floor. Part of the agreement was that there would be no pets in the building. The couple said Ingwersen himself brought a cat into the place. Open House Regarding The Future Of Dougherty Corner

Alex Koks is anxious to receive input from the community regarding his plans for the vacant lot on the corner of Main and John Streets. Until recently Koks had planned to build a bed and breakfast on the vacant lot. The B&B was to include a reception area and restaurant on the first floor and guest rooms on the second and third floor. However, with the vacancy of the Upsy Daisy floral shop in his adjoining building, he is considering a change of plans, and he wants to share his ideas with the community.
