HACA To Buy Food Closet Space

On November 11, following the recommendation of the Development Committee, the Hoosick Area Church Association approved a motion to purchase the former Hoosick Falls Credit Union building at 26 John Street as the HACA Community Service Center. New Bar Causes Problems

Jim Martinez who lives with his family in the Thorpe Block and has businesses in the same building on Church St. complained to the Village Board at Tuesday evening’s Board meeting about the noise and profanity coming from the recently opened Half Time bar across the street. HFCS Elementary School Honors Veterans

Third grade teacher Terri Burdick is a member of the Elks. The Elks Club, she told a packed auditorium Monday morning, is dedicated to helping Veterans. For many years, in that capacity, Mrs. Burdick has spearheaded a program that recognizes them on the eve of Veterans Day. The entire elementary school gets involved in this outstanding program. Students and teachers dress in red, white and blue, and there’s plenty of singing. Hearing an auditorium of elementary kids belting out “Proud to be an American” will warm any heart. Tim McCart Inducted Into Troy Bowling Association Hall Of Fame

HAPPY Receives A $369,000 Three Year Grant

HAPPY, the Hoosick Area Partnership for Parents & Youth, has recently announced that they have been awarded a three year grant from the U.S. Department of Education for implementation of a mentoring program.
