Angel Tree Open House

Second Chance Animal Center is hosting its fourth annual Angel Tree Open House on Saturday, December 6, from 11 am to 3 pm at the Shelter on US Route 7A in Shaftsbury, VT. For a small donation you can create a personalized ornament honoring a current pet or memorializing a beloved former pet. Shelter tours will be offered throughout the day. Refreshments will be served. Even Santa promises to be in attendance.   For additional information, contact Tina Wheeldon, 375-2898.

Hoosick Artist In American Realists At The Harrison Gallery

The Harrison Gallery will present a show of five realist artists – Hale Johnson, John MacDonald, Nick Patten, Evan Wilson and Kim Denise – from December 6 through December 24.  The artists will attend the opening reception at the Harrison Gallery on Saturday, December 6, from 5 to 7 pm. Artists in the realist tradition paint honestly what they see – with no embellishments or interpretation – yet their paintings can stir the emotions as surely as the works of impressionists, expressionists, abstractionists or any other school of painting. The Good Doctor At Hubbard Hall – A Review

Hubbard Hall has opened a new show, Neil Simon’s The Good Doctor. Though not one of Simon’s best plays, it had a successful run on Broadway and has been prominently revived a number of times since. Clearly, the attraction for the Hubbard Hall crew is its connection to Chekhov. A fascination with Chekhov has been a hallmark of the Hubbard Hall oeuvre. Sheffer’s Dairy Hosts Land Conservation Workshop

The Sheffer family of Sheffer’s Grassland Dairy in Hoosick hosted a grazing land conservation farm workshop in conjunction with the Rensselaer County Soil & Water Conservation District and USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service on Thursday, November 6. A lunch of local pastured beef hamburgers and hot dogs was enjoyed by everyone in the open under rainy skies.

HACA To Buy Food Closet Space

On November 11, following the recommendation of the Development Committee, the Hoosick Area Church Association approved a motion to purchase the former Hoosick Falls Credit Union building at 26 John Street as the HACA Community Service Center. HFCS Elementary School Honors Veterans

Third grade teacher Terri Burdick is a member of the Elks. The Elks Club, she told a packed auditorium Monday morning, is dedicated to helping Veterans. For many years, in that capacity, Mrs. Burdick has spearheaded a program that recognizes them on the eve of Veterans Day. The entire elementary school gets involved in this outstanding program. Students and teachers dress in red, white and blue, and there’s plenty of singing. Hearing an auditorium of elementary kids belting out “Proud to be an American” will warm any heart. Tim McCart Inducted Into Troy Bowling Association Hall Of Fame
