School Bus And SUV In Second Critical Rt. 7 Accident In Two Days

According to the New York State Police two vehicles were totaled in an accident near the intersection of Routes 7 and 22 in Hoosick on Thursday afternoon, October 30. Preliminary reports indicate that an SUV, with a kayak on top, driven by Chauntelle Alkinburgh, 42, of Oswego, NY, was heading west when it crossed the center line and struck a school bus head on. HAPPY Receives A $369,000 Three Year Grant

HAPPY, the Hoosick Area Partnership for Parents & Youth, has recently announced that they have been awarded a three year grant from the U.S. Department of Education for implementation of a mentoring program. Fatal Accident On Route 7

A fatal accident on Route 7 near the Hoosick-Pittstown line closed the road from 8:30 Wednesday morning, October 29, until two o’clock in the afternoon while the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Department investigated the cause of the crash. According to Sgt. Shane Holcomb of the Sheriff’s Department, Brian McGovern of Schaghticoke, NY, was eastbound in his Suzuki automobile when he crossed over the center line into oncoming traffic. His vehicle was struck by a tractor trailer, an empty fuel tanker from Abenqual Carriers out of New Hampshire. The tanker was on its way to the Port of Albany.
