Festival Of Original Plays at SLCA

The play Family Ties, which deals with a family coping with a father who has a serious illness, is part of “Dynamic Characters, Dramatic Situations – An Original Play Festival Competition” presented by Circle Theatre Players. Fourteen plays were chosen out of 83 entries, some from first playwrights like Sue Frost and some from experienced playwrights and authors. The performances begin on December 2 at 7:30 pm and continue on December 3, 4 and 5. Tickets cost $10 for one evening and $15 for two evenings.

20 Years Of Singing Thanksgiving And Praise

For many people the holiday season begins with thoughts of food, presents and decorations. For Dottie Cross the upcoming holiday season begins in October with thoughts of music. Twenty years ago Dottie gathered the members of her Christ United Methodist Church choir with those of the West Hoosick Baptist Church choir for a special service of Thanksgiving and Praise. They performed their very special program the Sunday before Thanksgiving. It was a heartwarming start to the holiday season. Over the years the program has grown to as many as 50 singers and musicians from 18 churches for three performances.

Thanksgiving Together Dinner

Berlin Board Celebrates Halloween

On the eleventh day of the eleventh month the Berlin Town Board held its regular meeting, but aside from the minute of silence that began the meeting in honor of the veterans who have served this country, the meeting resembled the holiday which took place eleven days prior, Halloween, more than it did Veterans Day. Hannaford Announces Plans For Store In New Lebanon

Hannaford Supermarkets announced today that it has signed a lease agreement with the owner of the Valley Plaza Shopping Center for a new store in New Lebanon. The full service supermarket and pharmacy will be built next door to the Route 20 plaza that contains the former New Lebanon Supermarket.
The store will feature an extensive Organic & Natural offering, a butcher shop, produce and seafood departments, a bakery and a deli and a full service pharmacy.

Hoosick Planning Board Action – Hoosick To Get A Subway

On Monday evening, November 15, the Hoosick Planning Board saw no environmental impact in allowing a Subway Shop to open in the former car wash building next to the Sunoco station on Route 7. A site plan review had previously been approved. Property owner Sheila Duncan said she is hoping the new Subway will be open before Christmas.

Berlin Wet Down

Berliners christened their new emergency services equipment on Saturday, November 6, at an Open House ceremony at the Fire House. Trucks from five fire departments – Center Brunswick, Raymertown, Poestenkill and Stephentown as well as Berlin – participated in the Wet Down, surrounding the shiny new ambulance and fire truck parked in the center of the Berlin Fire House parking lot. At a signal, all five opened up with their hoses and for about five minutes gave the new equipment a thorough baptizing.

Stephentown Town Board Action – Special Meetings, Action On Budget Postponed

The Stephentown Town Board has appointed Bill Jennings to serve out the term of a Board seat left vacant last year after Larry Eckhardt was elected Town Supervisor. Learning that Board Members Mark Prescott and PJ Roder would not be available to participate in the regular November Board meeting scheduled for this past Monday, which would mean no quorum, the Board called a special meeting on Sunday and appointed Jennings to serve until the end of the year. In January he will begin serving the term to which he was elected on November 2.
