Where Does Your Food Come From?

Now you can find out, courtesy of the Bar None Ranch in Berlin. They raise pastured chicken and lamb, without antibiotics and growth hormones. Their chickens are fed grass and locally grown grain. They are coming to the Brunswick Community Library, on Route 2, on Saturday, July 31, at 11 am for a special Chicken Storytime.

Men’s Thursday Night League At HFCC Wrap Up

It’s getting tight at the top of Division One in the HFCC Men’s Thursday Night League. With two weeks remaining the team of Brad Eastman, Mike Hickey and Tyler Myers are tied at eighty-two points with George Smith and Paul Haynes. Three points back with a total of 79 is the team of Peter Martin and John Giargiari.  Steve Wilson and Jim Decker remain in the hunt with 77 points.

Texas Hold’Em

The Veterans of Stephentown and the Stephentown Fire Department will sponsor a joint Texas Hold’em Tournament on Saturday, July 24, in the Stephentown Fire Hall located on Grange Hall Road in Stephentown. The doors will open at 5 pm and close at 6  pm. Play begins at 6:15 sharp.

Girls Growing Strong And Healthy At GS Camp

The Sports complex at Hoosac School will once again host the Hoosick Falls Girl Scout camp from August 2 – 6. Its sports field will be full of activities that teach girls to become strong and healthy. Any girl in grades 1 through 6 in September may attend this camp. The camp times are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 am to 3 pm. On Thursday camp runs from 9 am to 6 pm with all girls in grades 4 to 6 staying for a cookout and sleep-over, weather permitting.

Friday, July 30 – Outdoor Explorers at 11 am with Bob D’Avignon of the Twin Rivers Council. Meet in front of the Beach Nature Center.
Saturday, July 31 – Wilderness Survival Seminar from 2 to 4 pm.  From making fire to making shelter, a basic intro to dealing with a survival situation. It’s actually fun too!  Meet by the beach.

NYS Sportsman Education Program

The Pioneer Fish & Game Club will be hosting the NYS Sportsman Education Program. This course is needed to obtain a NYS hunting license. The course will be on Thursday, August 12, 5:30 to 9:30 pm and Saturday, August 14, 8 am to 4pm. Attendance is required at both sessions. Pre-register by calling Gary at 686-4072 or Don at 686-4767 after 6 pm.
