Letter To The Editor – Berlin Central School – Sportsmanship

To The Editor:

The date was October 17, 2008.  The event was a modified boys soccer game at the Berlin Jr/Sr High School soccer field.  The contestants were Berlin and Waterford.  Waterford can be unfriendly, unsporting and unpleasant all around.  But the Berlin players were ready.  There was but one game left after this game.

HFCS Ski/Snowboard Club

Hoosick Falls Central School is hosting its Elementary Ski/Snowboard Club at Willard Mountain in Greenwich, NY, this 2009 season!  Students in grades 5-8 are invited to participate in the elementary program on Wednesdays, beginning January 7, 2009 for six weeks. Sheffer’s Dairy Hosts Land Conservation Workshop

The Sheffer family of Sheffer’s Grassland Dairy in Hoosick hosted a grazing land conservation farm workshop in conjunction with the Rensselaer County Soil & Water Conservation District and USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service on Thursday, November 6. A lunch of local pastured beef hamburgers and hot dogs was enjoyed by everyone in the open under rainy skies.

Gilbert Takes Third At States

In September Casey Gilbert ran his very first cross country race ever. Now, just two months later, the Berlin senior has been crowned the Patroon Conference Champion as well as the Section 2, Class D Champion. This past weekend Gilbert, along with teammate Cody Blain and Kelsey Demick and Ashley Rokjer from the girls team traveled to Long Island for the New York State Championship race. Tim McCart Inducted Into Troy Bowling Association Hall Of Fame

Youth Snowmobile Safety Course

On Saturday, December 6, the Grafton Trail Blazers Snowmobile Club, the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation and the Friends of Grafton Lakes State Park will host a snowmobile safety course for young people ages 10 to 18. Students must be at least 10 years old on the day of the course. Parents are encouraged to attend and participate.
