Third HFCS Outdoor Expo

The nice thing about the Hoosick Falls Central School Outdoor Expo is that it was strictly educational and informational. No gimmicks, nothing to buy. NYS DEC personnel had information on wildlife game laws, regulations and enforcement. Trout Unlimited had demonstrations on fly tying and fly fishing, and there was a 4-H Shooting Sports exhibit on gun safety. That was just for starters.

Rensselaer County Legislature – Prominent Grafton And Babcock Lake Resident Honored

The family of Charles Hamill of Grafton entered the well of the Rensselaer County Legislature on Tuesday night to receive copies of the resolution passed last month that memorialized him. Charles J. “Charlie” Hamill died on January 23, 2012.

Hoosick Falls St. Patrick’s Day Parade Line Up And Irish Fest Entertainment

The Capital District’s premier all female Celtic band, Triskele, will be preforming on Saturday, March 17, at the Hoosick Falls Irish festival from 2 to 4 pm. They released their debut CD, Look Back, Don’t Stare in 2011 to resounding acclaim. They are excited to bring a refreshing sound, driven by their solid harmonies to lovers of Irish music.

Village of Hoosick Falls Board Meeting – Water Could Be Shut Off If Bills Are Not Paid

The regular monthly meeting of the Hoosick Falls Village Board was held on Tuesday, March 13. Mayor Matt Monahan requested and received approval from the Board to send water and sewer collection notices to Town residents who use Village water and, in some cases, sewer, and are in arrears. Berlin Town Board Action – Dog Rights

“They have the right to walk up and down the street if they behave themselves,” said Dog Control Officer Doug Goodermote at the Berlin Town Board meeting on Thursday, March 8. This clear statement of dog rights was necessitated because, according to Goodermote, people have been abducting dogs from the streets of the village and taking them to Goodermote’s kennel in Cherry Plain. Hoosick Falls Police Blotter – March 4 to March 11, 2012

Sunday, March 4 – Domestic Dispute investigation on River Street. Arrested for striking the victim was Jay Valentino, age 61, of 45 River Street. He was arrested for Menacing 3rd and Harassment 2nd. He was arraigned and bail was set at $1,000. The victim was treated at the scene.
Investigation of suspicious vehicle on Fourth Street. Investigation revealed that the vehicle was broken down.

The Cub Scout Pack 911 Pinewood Derby

Cub Scout Pack 911 held its Annual Pine Wood Derby race on Sunday, March 4, at the Stephentown Fire Hall. Twenty cub scouts participated in the event.  A great time was had by all the scouts and their families. Trophies were awarded to each den and to the overall winners.
