Hoosick Falls Accident Closes River Street

Hoosick Federal Credit Union Celebrates Its 60th Anniversary

On August 24 the Hoosick Federal Credit Union will celebrate is 60th Anniversary with a party at the Armory from 3 to 7 pm. Everyone is invited for food, music, door prizes and giveaways. “It’s our way of thanking the community for allowing us to serve the area for 60 great years,” said Credit Union President Jim Martinez.

Summer Of The Owl Concludes With A Raptor Expert And Live Owls

Trish Marki, a trained wildlife rehabilitator and educator with the Wildlife Institute of Eastern New York will be joining the Hoosick Falls Summer of the Owl Ceremony and Celebration.

Hoosick Grange News

It was fun night at the Grange on August 14. We had great food and plenty of it. We played Bingo until we filled the cards. We had lots of prizes and played until all were gone. We had a great turnout and even got a new member. It was a very successful fun night.
Our next meeting is August 28. It’s election of officers night. The Lecturer is in charge of the program. Louise Ciuk and Mary Ramancus are in charge of refreshments.

Hubbard Hall Opera Presents A Masterful Barber of Seville

The Hubbard Hall Opera Company’s production of Rossini’s The Barber of Seville is a pleasure on many levels.
The show is great fun just for the comic shenanigans drawn from the original Beaumarchais play (the same Figaro trilogy from which Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro is drawn). The cast assembled here bring, in addition to their formidable vocal abilities, a remarkable acting ability, bringing out the drama and the laughs in the story.

Hoosick – Helen Nichols Jacobs died peacefully in her home in Paramus, NJ, on August 11, 2013. She had painted the Hoosick hills with her daughter, Hoosick, NY, resident and businesswoman Barbara Sussman, for over thirty years.

The Rensselaer County Legislature – Two Eastwick Families Recognized For Achievement

Two families from the Eastwick area came to the well of the Rensselaer County Legislature on Tuesday to receive copies of resolutions passed at earlier sessions. One was the extended family behind two very successful enterprises in North Hoosick, J.A. Bradley and Hoosick True Value Hardware. The other was the family of Reverend William O’Dell of Grafton, whose life was memorialized by the Legislature at the adjournment of the July meeting.
