Scrub Board Laundromat And Car Wash Goes Green

The flooding in Stephentown at the end of July caused disruption for a number of businesses, one of them being the Scrub Board Laundromat and Car Wash on Route 22. Elmer Stuart said that the overflowing Kinderhook Creek resulted in dirty water that forced the facility to shut down on the evening of July 29. They were finally able to re-open on the following Saturday afternoon.

Hoosick Eateries Show Overwhelming Support For “A Taste Of Hoosick”

Staying connected to the community and recognizing that going hungry is a reality for many local families, Hoosick area eateries are quickly signing up to showcase their favorite dishes at “A Taste of Hoosick” to benefit the Food Pantry of the Hoosick Area Church Association. The event will be held on Sunday, September 20, from 4 to 7 pm at the Hoosick Falls Country Club.

Stephentown Historical Society Presentation On The Anti-Rent War

Barrett will present a talk on the Anti-Rent War of 1839 to 1869 at the Stephentown Historical Society meeting on Monday, September 14.  The meeting is at 7:30 pm at the Heritage Center on Garfield Road (County Route 26) in Stephentown. William Brown, III graduated from Hoosick Falls Central School in 2000. He received his undergraduate degree from Houghton College in Western New York. He majored in Biology with minors in Spanish, Psychology and Chemistry. Brown went to St. George’s University in Grenada obtaining a Master’s in tropical medicine and then his MD. Local Businesses Show Support for First Hoosick Pumpkinpalooza

Community support for the first Hoosick Pumpkinpalooza has been very strong, judging from the number of local businesses who have decided to sponsor the event. Most major sponsorship opportunities have been taken and additional support in the form of donations and volunteers continues to be received daily. The festival is being planned for the weekend of September 26.
