Support Needed For Veterans Memorial Wall

The Hoosick Falls Veterans Memorial Wall Committee announced recently that the second phase to raise funds for completion of the Veterans Memorial Wall in Wood Park is now underway.
The projected cost for the Wall is $45,000. The first phase of the project has been completed at a cost of $10,000 which was funded by donations and in-kind services. Efforts are now underway to raise the remaining $35,000 which will cover the cost of six bronze plaques listing the names of all Hoosick area Veterans, installation and landscaping.  [Read more…] about Support Needed For Veterans Memorial Wall

Berlin Memorial Day Parade

The American Legion Taconic Valley Post #937 will be hosting a Memorial Day Parade in the Town of Berlin on Monday, May 31, at 11 am.
All interested marchers should assemble between the Baptist and Catholic Churches on Main Street at 10:30 am.
Questions about the parade should be directed to the American Legion Taconic Valley Post at 658-9397.

Grafton Town Board Action – May 2010

Herb Hasbrouck reported at the May 13 Grafton Town Board meeting that calcium chloride, the dust control product the Town is using, can no longer be picked up by Highway Department trucks. Because of heightened security, in order to pick up the calcium chloride, you now need to go through training and get licensed. To have the product delivered will cost an extra 71 cents per ton and a 12 cent per mile surcharge for gas used for the delivery. Petersburgh Fire Department Cindy Harrison Memorial Scholarship

Applications are now being accepted for the Petersburgh Fire Department/Cindy Harrison Scholarship from those continuing their education through either college or vocational training. Current or former Berlin graduates who have overcome obstacles and/or struggled through adversity are eligible.

The Frank Jones Memorial Scholarship

The Berlin Volunteer Fire Department announces that the Frank Jones Memorial Scholarship application is now available to any graduating senior that is a resident of Berlin.
Applications can be picked up in the Berlin Central High School guidance office or by contacting Stanley Pettibone at 658-0088.  They can also be picked up at the firehouse on Tuesday nights at 7pm.
The scholarship will be awarded on Friday, June 11.  Please have all scholarship applications turned in by then.

The Wilma M. Anderson Memorial Scholarship

The Berlin Rescue Squad announces that the Wilma M. Anderson Memorial Scholarship application is now available to any graduating senior that is a resident of Berlin.

The annual Hoosick Townwide Tag Sale will be held on Saturday, May 29, in and around the Village of Hoosick Falls. This year’s event will include a Consignment & Tag Sale to benefit the Hoosick Area Youth Center & Community Coalition (HAYC3) at 115 Church Street in Hoosick Falls. The  HAYC3 event hours are 9 am to 4 pm.
