Five people were lucky to survive an early morning crash into a guard rail in North Stephentown last Saturday, August 22. It happened on Route 22 directly across the road from the intersection with West Road.

DOT Absence Prompts Stephentown Disaster Plan

When the temporary Route 22 bridge over the Kinderhook became dislodged with the force of the rushing flood waters on the evening of July 29, there were no State highway people around to take charge of the dangerous situation. Fortunately, the Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department was on the job keeping an eye on everything. They took the responsibility to close down the road, set up detour signs and direct traffic.

Area Students On College of Saint Rose Spring 2009 Dean’s List

Tristin Crawford, a resident of Berlin, and  Madalyn Parnas, a resident of Stephentown, are among 750 students named to the Dean’s List for Spring 2009 at The College of Saint Rose in Albany.
Full-time students who complete a minimum of 12 credit hours and achieve a semester grade point average of at least 3.5 with no grades of D, F, Incomplete of Pass/Fail are eligible for inclusion on the Dean’s List.
