Hoosick Falls Man Arrested For Rape

On Monday, September 24, at around 3:30 pm the Hoosick Falls Police Department responded to a reported unknown problem at a residence on Church Street in Hoosick Falls. Upon the arrival of patrols, a 21 year old man was located in a bedroom. The male subject refused to exit the bedroom and, after a brief struggle, was placed under arrest. An underage female was located and as a result of the investigation it was determined that the male subject did have sexual intercourse with her.

Pumpkinpalooza This Weekend And The Gnome Is Found

Pumpkinpalooza 4 takes place this weekend with a cornucopia of activities in Hoosick Falls, mostly in Wood Park, starting at 8 am and lasting until 11 pm. There is fun for everyone. As part of Pumpkinpalooza 4 HAYC3 invited residents to search for and find the hidden Gnome. On Saturday the finder of the little guy will receive $250.

HAYC3 Plans Third Annual Community Walk For Suicide Prevention
Suicide is the third leading cause of death among teens and young adults in the United States. Hoosick has seen its share of these tragedies over the years. This evening gives our community the opportunity to support families who have suffered from a suicide and the opportunity for suffering families to feel the communal embrace.

A Festival Of Wreathes – A Cheney Library Fundraiser
Much of the September 5 meeting of the Friends of the Cheney Library was spent discussing the upcoming fund raiser scheduled for November 3. “Love Your Library – A Festival of Wreathes” will be held in the hall of the Immaculate Conception Church, Hoosick Falls. Hoosick Falls’ Paula Brown Is Helping Habitat For Humanity Of The Mississippi Gulf Coast
Habitat for Humanity of the Mississippi Gulf Coast is pleased to welcome Paula Brown as an AmeriCorps member. She chose to work with HFHMGC’s dedicated staff and volunteers to help in Habitat’s work to build and repair decent and affordable housing.
Brown has committed to serve full time with Habitat for Humanity over the next year as an AmeriCorps National in the construction field. She will complete over 1,700 hours during her term of service. Brown relocated from Hoosick Falls. She studied Spanish and Latin American and Caribbean Studies at the University at Albany.

HAYC3 Supports Prescription Take Back Day
The community is invited to bring unused prescription drugs to the Hoosick Falls Village Police Department on Saturday, September 29, from 10 am to 1 pm. This opportunity to safely discard unwanted medications is sponsored by HAYC3.
Abuse of prescription drugs has skyrocketed among teens. Most youths abusing these drugs say they obtain them from their friends or relatives without their knowledge. The first place they often find them is in a medicine cabinet. Many teens believe using prescription or over-the-counter medicines to get high is safer and less risky than using street drugs. They can also obtain them for free.

New Room For Book Sales At The Cheney Library
Cheney Library staff and volunteers have been working hard to create a room to be used just for the monthly book sales. The first book sale in the new room will be on October 6. There is a lot more room to browse in, so there are a lot more books on the shelves. Please be sure to join us as we make more use of Cheney Library. The book sale is held each month on Saturday from 8 am to 1 pm. The Cheney Library is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 1 to 8 pm, Tuesday from 10 am to 5 pm, Friday from 11 am to 4 pm and Saturday from 8 am to 1 pm.
Father Tom Zelker To Speak At HACA Brunch
Fr.
